Hobby Barn - Tucson AZ - Question
Hi, I remember the large Hobby Barn ads in the old RCM magazines and I'll be in Tucson next week and am wondering if Hobby Barn is still open and what kind of a hobby shop it is, I do not wish to drive half way across town for a Hobby Town type of store if you know what I mean.

RE: Hobby Barn - Tucson AZ - Question
I'm only 150 miles away and I have not heard anything regarding Hobby Barn closing the doors. Of course it is possible that they have closed and I simply have not heard about it but I would think such news would have been fairly widely reported among modelers in Az. considering Hobby Barn's popularity and longevity. Hmmm, interesting. Somebody in the Tucson area certainly must know.

They are alive and kicking, just went there in October. They have been in Tucson forever and worth the drive to see a good old fashioned Hobby shop. Near Wilmot on 22nd st. Then cruise down to the Pima Air museum a little farther south, on the way you can drive by the Davis Monthan Boneyard. Some great RC fields in and around town as well.

RE: Hobby Barn - Tucson AZ - Question
Theyve been selling airplanes on here for months due to the "owners impending retirement"... I will be in TUS this weekend, so will try to make it by and let you know. I used to hang out there when I was just a kid. The woman sitting at the front was NEVER friendly. It was always a gruff "whadya want kid"!
I always wanted to reply
"I just want you to be nice"!!!

RE: Hobby Barn - Tucson AZ - Question
I read your reply to an inquiry regarding the Hoby Barn in Tucson dated 21Feb13 and wondered what phone number you used. I have called (520) 747-3792 numerous times but have never been able to make a connection. They advertise a Hanno Pretner MAGIC kit which I have been trying to locate for months with no luck. Any help would to greatly appreciated. Bob Payne

Im thinking they may be winding down and are not consistant with the hours.
Thats the same number I called last week.
I noticed they even had a full page ad in a model magazine this month?!?!?!
Talk about weird....

RE: Hobby Barn - Tucson AZ - Question
I hope they are not closing. They've been a good supplier for many years. I was getting pattern kits from them back in the 70s and 80s. Their Magic kit was one of the best in workmanship.
As for the Magazine ad, those are placed 3 months prior to the issue hitting the streets.
I would really hate to see them go.

RE: Hobby Barn - Tucson AZ - Question
I went to hobby barn and the sign said closed till may 1st
So I went down on the second of may and doors are locked no signs saying opening again
I tried to call and they will not answer the phone
I am making up a flyer that post they don't want customers and don't waste your time going there
Hobby town has started stocking parts for the big gassers
