Is my 1/4 scale busa DR1 Fokker too heavy??
My dr1 weighs in at 17lbs 13oz. Power is a dle30 with stock muffler. Two 2000mah nimh batts. It took almost 2lbs on firewall to balance. The builder put the servos in the tail, not sure why. I know that means more weight up front, but I calculated moving them forward and running controls back and it doesnt seem like it would make much difference. All said, it flys like a dream, almost seems floaty on landing. Just wondering if almost 18lbs seems heavy for this model. I hate to change anything because it flys so nice.

If it flies good, I wouldn't worry about it. Mine weighs in at exactly 17 lbs. It balanced out without any nose weight with a G-26 w/mag ignition, RX and smoke battery packs close to under cockpit area. Just make sure the C.G. is correct and your engine is well tuned.

C.G. exactly as per plan which is about 3-5/8" from leading edge back underneath the top wing. I do not recommend flying it tail heavy, If you have a dead stick, it will loose airspeed very fast and it will drop like a rock. The plane has alot of lift but also alot of drag. It is a good flying plane when set up correctly but it does not like to take off or land in cross wind situations. Hope that helps
