I wanted to bump this thread to see how this beautiful bird turned out, has she flown, etc.
Also to wet everyone's appetite, here is a video I just finished of the Bear during the 2013 air races.

yes as the others are saying, she looks awesome!! I would like to see some video of the articulating gear working, it's nice to see the proper type of landing gear on the Bear.

I've been looking at that landing gear a LOT. I couldn't figure out what the second little air cylinder is. Then I saw it's a down-lock, I think :-) But I can't figure out what holds the gear in the up position. Looks to me like there would be a BIG tendency for the wheel to want to droop out of the well. So yes, I'd sure like to see some gear video too!!
Totally awesome airplane, Roger.

Wow, just wow. You Sir are a true craftsman. The meticulous detail that you have put in to this model is truly one of a kind. Why aren't you doing this for a living? I wish you the best of luck on your maiden - but from looking at the construction, you won't need it. My wife and I are headed to Reno this year for our first Air Races, and I am really hoping to see the Rare Bear whip Voodoo.

This is such a great clean build. The paint job is magnificent. The plumbing is nice and clean. I like the gear. I have scale gear as well (Unknown manufacture), but there not like yours (Photo provided of mine). I had a heck of a time mounting them and I'm still not happy with it. Scale location is not right. There about a inch to fare inwards. But the mechanics and space would not allow me to move them out farther. Anyway, I just started working on mine again hope to have it flying September. Have to sander her down, primer, panel/rivets and paint. Plumbing is mostly done.
