Flying wire attachment on 1/3 scale Pup
Trying to get a few ideas on flying wire attachment on a 1/3 scale Balsa USA Sopwith Pup. There are a few ways of doing it but, what are your ideas of doing this that makes it easiest to assemble and remove, but still strong and stay adjusted during flight. Any help is appreciated! Thanks, Paul

Paul;, a few years ago I had the 1/3 pup. I did end up selling it because I just got tired of taking 30 minutes to assembly and the overall size. That being said. I ended up using piano wire and Proctor turnbuckles on mine. fairly scale and made adjustment possible I had a special bender for the piano wire. I had gone to piano wire because it didn't stretch and still looked good. I don't think there is any way to get around having to screw it all together each time. You can make a bracket for the fuselage end of the two wings that will allow you to leave the upper and lower wing halves attached to each other; but assembly really is a two-man job.

I'm in the process of building this plane. I decided to use steel cable from BUSA for wing wires that hold the wings on. I don't like turnbuckles because they are hard to set when adjusting. My method is simple...I use cable and crimps, fishing swivels, dubro clevises and 4-40 threaded rod. Basicaly attache cable to one end with crimp then to swivel end with crimp. The other end of swivel attaches heavy duty dubro clevis threaded to one and half inch long 4-40 threaded rod with nut then threaded to another clevis that attaches other end of wing. Easy to tighten because swivel turns not twisting cable and nut is bonded to act as a stop to give you repeated tension unless cable stretches during load.
