Jeff, how's 76 to 88 degrees Thursday through Sunday sound? Things look to be shaping up well weather-wise.

Oh by the way, we got the trophy's the other day...pretty magnificent stuff! I'm thinking I should hang on to them and just go back to the "little model airplane" trophy thing. Whatcha' think???? Yup...those are authentic B-25 cowl flaps and exhaust stubbs...nowhere else but Warbirds Over Denver. Yeah baby!!! See you in a couple days!

Beautiful blue sky, 80 degrees, 8 to 10 right down the runway and "Aluminum Overcast" flying out of Centennial...just what the Dr. ordered! Setup about 90% done...we be flyin' tomorrow!

Hopefully all went well, as it has been really windy here all day.

Weather was perfect all day today. Light breezes...it couldn't have been nicer! The big B-17 flew over at least three times. Thanks to Wings Over the Rockies Museum!!! Saturday we had a front move through about 10 minutes before the flag raising and flyover. It blew like a sob for about thirty minutes, clouded up and cooled things off a bit. The rest of the day was awesome! I'll post some pics as soon as I can get through them. Getting ready for the hot tub to sooth the aching bones!!

That was the longest 30 minutes of wind Saturday I've ever seen... It stayed windy for quite some time after the worst had past. Saturday, I was fortunate to see the B17 only once and we got some video of it which was cool. Seen some spectacular crashes, one being a jet that shut the field down for a bit. It hit something like 15 yards off the main road and in front of this mobile trailer that stopped to view it. Felt sorry for that pilot as you never want to see a jet go in... any bird for that matter.

Sunday was less exciting but the weather was perfect! Sad I didn't win the raffle for that Corsair.. but in all, it was a good event. I look forward to next years event.. Hopefully the Luftwaffe will be stronger..

I went through all my video and captured some frames of the weekend's festivities. Hope you enjoy! Yup, that's a full scale T-6 flown by Dick Jones. He entertained us with some lovely fly-by's and various aerobatics...pretty cool!

Yeah Ram, we were hoping to see one of your big Fw's...if you brought something big I must have missed it. I did see a gorgeous Zirolli Stuka that got yanked off the ground and cartwheeled...I hate when that happens, but unfortunately, the clocks ticks on them all doesn't it?[:@] That big Blohm & Voss was pretty cool! Germany was pretty well represented with WWI era planes.

No. Not this time. I ended up being the designated driver so I didn't have the space for a big one. Normally my passenger drives his van which fits all our birds but it broke down a week prior. I'll have a trailer next year

Okay, finally settled in, so here goes.

WOW!

What a friggin' GREAT TIME!

From old friends, to new ones, from the rowdy Pueblo Crowd (Duane, Sam, John, Brent, Rob, Zach, Irene, and all else) to the MinneSOOtah clan of Jeff, Phil, Chris, to the great local support like Bruno, Thomas and Dale Rooney, Clark, Ken, D. Stukel, to the rocks of the community like Bette and Leo and our fantastic CD's Doug and Lora....AWESOME!!!

It was a pleasure and privilege flying with you all. It was a pleasure and privilege hanging out, being goofy, being funny, flying hard and with intensity, and telling each other lies all weekend!

Ron, my camel RonRon was walking funny and smelled like you when I got home. Where were you and WHAT were you doing Saturday night?? It's second hump was all bent backwards!!!

Love y'all...see you in Pueblo!

Shaz

That L39 crash was indeed unfortunate as any crash is. While you hope not to see the loss of such a beautiful aircraft, you've got to be organized against such an occurrence. Our fire crews were on the job. The green P47 also tubbed in during a landing attempt with a stuck throttle. I hate it when the engine is running too slow to fly but too fast to land![:'(]
One of the stars of the show was Jeff Q's 150" Kate. What a monster! It was built by Carl Bachuber and in the hands of a master like Jeff it was magnificent...won "Pilots Choice Best of Show" by the way. Oh, did I mention it now resides with us? Thanks Jeff!!! Bigger IS better!!!

Shaz you bust me up!!! Here's some more...can you tell which is the REAL B-17?? On the video over the rumble of those mighty engines you can hear a guy say, "I wonder if any other RC Warbird event has a B17 fly over?". Great question!!

Yup, the Birds of Prey Squadron represented themselves with honor! A bunch of beautiful aircraft, and Sam, if that Italian job would have flown, it would have been a contender for sure!! Well done, I can't wait to see her in the air! Lots of gaggles over the weekend, but then, to me anyway, that's what it's all about! Here's a few shots of a P-47/Zero gaggle with Zach, his dad Brent, Duane and Clark and yes, Brent's landing was better than Zach's...but just barely! By the way, Zach is 14 and those are both Zirolli Jugs. Way to go Zach, I'd fly your wing anytime!

Here's a few shots of Lora's pink Spit flying with a second Yellow Spit finished in the colors of the owner's dad. Chris Watkins retired the aircraft after this flight and is shipping it to England where it will be displayed in the museum located at the base where his Dad flew out of during WWII. Thanks Chris for sharing this beauty with us for a few years. It was an honor to fly your wing (even though Ryan was behind the sticks)!

Great pics Doug.........Awesome pics of the two Ziroli Jugs with Brent and Zack flying.

To my favorite Jet (camel) Jock.........U DA MAN....! it was a blast watching you fly all three of your jets this last weekend. Can't wait to see you using up a set of brake pads on every landing in Pueblo. Ask Clark (a real jet jock) HE GETS R DONE..

Doug, Lora, all staff of the Warbirds over Denver...................GREAT JOB.........The Pueblo Birds of Prey boys as usual flew our camel humps off and loved every minute of the fantastic weather. We only hope and will try our best to bring the same fun in the sun Labor Day Weekend when Warbirds over Pueblo takes to the skies over the high plains desert.

Betty and Leo...............YOU ARE TWO VERY VERY SPECIAL PEOPLE..................THANKS FOR ALL YOU DO ALSO....!!!

OVER AND OUT.............................................CA PTAIN RON

Thanks you guys!! As you both know from personal experience, it's lots of work but geez, what a great time! Jeff, I know that's a long drive out from Minnesota and the ride back is about twice as long. Hopefully, being 65lbs lighter helped with the fuel costs!
It's great spending time with friends doing things that you love most! We look forward to seeing you again soon both at NAMFI and at Warbirds Over Pueblo!

I just uploaded a short video of Lora's pink Spit flying with Chris' rendition of the plane his Dad flew in WWII. I'll post more clips as I get them edited. I'm putting one together of a Jug gaggle that was really cool!

I just uploaded a couple of gaggle flights to youtube. There's a nice shot of "Aluminum Overcast" flying overhead. The first one has Zack (14) and his dad flying the Zirolli Jugs...pretty sweet to have your son on your wing! Second one includes Jeff flying Phil's Nosen Corsair with the Meister Zero giving chase.

So when will Warbirds over Denver 2014 take place?
Where is the registration?
Recommended Hotels?
I understand Cal is not coming in 2014 but I hope a few of the other members of the Minnesota Squadron will be there.

We're looking forward to great weather and tons of flying for all, June 7,8,9, 2013! As always, we'll be hosting a growing number of Vets brought in from local "Old Soldiers Homes". Thanks Shaz for organizing this opportunity to honor those who served us all! See ya there!!
