Hmmm..... When I first saw this question about what side the two red and green nav lights went on asked, I couldn't believe it had actually come up but I guess I was wrong. Maybe it's the A&P Mechanic in me? Or maybe its the Commercial Pilot's License? In any event how could you compare photos of somebody's model to actual aircraft?

I'm still waiting for my scale wheels too.

I have found with the Corsair you just need to put it on backorder and wait till it comes in. I backordered my 7 cylinder and mine was shipped but they never showed coming into stock. I think the backorders are so large they are not even getting enough in to meet demands. I heard the wheels are actually being held up with the tires themselves.
I have everything for mine now just need to finish it up. I am installing all the gear doors now, time consuming, but easier than I thought.
I am still up in the air about leaving it Gloss Blue or doing the blue camoflage with weathering. After a few more steps I am going to have to commit one way or the other.

At advantage hobby you need to place the order after you receive in stoc notification mail. The wheels are the only part I'm missing. But I have purchase some dubro 5" wheels for testing and door fitting. Actually I can fly with those too.

Hey guys, I'm in the middle of my Corsair build. Any idea when the scale Robart wheels will be available? Looks like someone posted back in Nov? asking about availability? Still on back order :-(...
Also, what is the deal with the nav lights? I see pics of the Corsair w/ the lights reversed by todays standards? Did warbirds have the green on left/ red on right? As opposed to today's green on right/ red on left? (as viewed from the pilots seat) Thanks

I am using the MPI MAXX navigational lights in mine, bought them for another project that didn't happen so we will see how they look in the Corsair.

Thanks guys… I know how full scale planes nav lights are sided ( I fly MD11's for a living), I have seen several pics on this corsair and read the instructions, and thought I was missing something? It must be mistakes by others and a mistake in the H9 instructions (pg 75 step 3) that threw me off.

BTW, still nothing on the wheels, any ideas from anyone in the know with Horizon? H9?

I want one now!!!
I want one, I want one....I want one........is Horizon the best place to order it? I guess I will just backorder the thing and wait my turn!
My mentor and old flying pal the late great Capt'n Dick Kaiser (ret Eastern Airline Pilot) flew the F4U-5 in Korea off of the USS Boxer. I have been a Corsair fan since I was a kid watching Baa Baa Blacksheep.
I do not mind the gloss blue paint, as I want to make it look like the one I would own if I was super rich..it would be glossy and waxed with a diaper!

I just looked in the hardcopy, and you are right! The instructions are wrong. I didn't notice, because I mounted lights as I know they are.

I remember seeing something back on page 17 where one of the corsairs was lost due to the wing dowels coming loose. There was a recommendation to cut out a set of holes above the dowels in the center section and apply extra glue to ensure they stay put, but that's all i've heard on problems with the center section. It seems really stout as Manfred stated. Main spar is laminated and about an inch thick, and the glass work seems fairly strong. Capt, what issues have you heard about with the center section? Failure at the wing dowels, failure at the outer panel attachments? I'm curious...
I did notice on mine, there is about a 3/32" gap between the center section and front of the fuse when the wing is seated and tightened down. I believe I am going to fill that gap in so there is minimal chance of movement of the center section during flight. Thoughts? Anyone else find this condition with their model?
Thanks

I was less concerned about the price as I was about the weight. The 80 mustang they sell, which I have, came in at 15pounds 11ozs. And I used a dle 35 and robart electric retracts. This one is say 28-32. A lot of weight to me for a 85 inch wing span. It looks good in the video and I might still pull the trigger and get one. Just have to let others be the first on this one.
6# heavier & $270 more than the Top Flite? No thanks.
As far as appearance. That's subjective. i like the earlier flat blue color scheme of the TF version much better & some flat dove gray sprayed on the bottom would improve it even more.

If you haven't bought the TopFlite, why don't you do so and participate in the huge thread here on RCU for that model?????
