The DLE55 RA fits very well. You must make a small cut out in the bottom of the engine mounting box to accommodate the muffler, and a small cutout in the Cowl to allow the top of the spark plug cover to exit. the Engine will extend about 3/8" beyond the cowl, using the stock standoffs. The dummy scale engine should be mounted on a piece of 1/8" ply and it fits nicely well into the cowl .

Count me in on this one...,one on pre-order. I'll be going with the RimFire 65cc equivalent electric motor on mine...

Fireynz

The corsairs are scheduled to be in the USA warehouses
on July 29 but as you know that is what is scheduled as of now .
Good luck with your project as I really like mine and the best
flying scale model I have flown or owned.

Has anyone flown the H9 60cc Corsair with an Evolution 7-77 radial using a Biela 4 blade 18x14 prop?

I've got to give kudos to Horizon hobby. I first called their shipping department and ask for shipping quote to Hawaii. They emailed me a quote of $78.83....when I called again to confirm(as this seems unimaginably low), I was told "send me the email". Once he saw that, he went with $78.83 on the spot for shipping....needless to say, I immediately went ahead with the order!

That's true customer service!

Also as far as the gear goes, is there any advantage in going with the air set up over the electric? I'm getting ready to start at page one now, so I'll hold anymore questions.

I agree, but nothing is perfect.I have seen a lot of problems with electrics at our field and they had to return them for repair. With air you usually can repair them yourself,,just find the leak. That's my experience.

So has anyone had good luck using the electric retracts? I usually have pretty good luck with running air myself. Does Sierra make a set for this bird?

I have the E-Flite electrics on the Spitfire and they have been fine and while I haven't flown them yet, the 60cc Mustang retracts appear very stout and have bench tested very well.

I have Eflites on my P-51, flew it today for the first time and they worked fine during the two flights. I have Centruy Jet on my 60 Corsair, and during the build they have been working without a hitch, but time will tell once it starts flying how well they hold up.

I have the electric Robarts, Mains and tail wheel they seem to work well, But slow. They take 15seconds to actuate (ON 9 volts).. I plan on using 4 servos on the doors. No problem on going down, but how can I slow the doors down to allow the Retracts to get up before the doors close?
I have a Spektrum 18.

I have a sequencer for doors that might work for this, got it from Tower. Not sure if the DX18 has that feature, heard it could do something like this, but thats as much as I know about it. My JR 12X can slow the flaps speed, maybe the DX18 can do that for the gear doors.

Doc I have a DX 18 and with that you can adjust the speed of the doors, independently, I used the expansion module for the gear and doors. Go into the servo setup and select the expansion channels and then Speed. The 18 also has a sequencer built in. That is where I suggest you start. Assign the Gear to WHL and DOR for the doors. It took me some time to get them working the way I wanted but its not too tricky.

Good Luck.

Cheers

Did the maiden this morning and awesome flying warbird. Very pleased. Zenoah ZP62 for power and almost 4 lbs in the nose to balance. Takes off very scale. I have the Robart air retracts and no issues so far.

I have Robart E retracts in the GS P-40, GS Corsair, GS Spitfire and a GS P-51. All work great on 6 volt NIMH rcvr pack.

Thanks Thud, I just got off the Spektrum site. and they go thru the entire set up. You can use the same switch but must use 2 channels. Wheels and Doors( gear and aux ? ) I gave it a try but it is still in progress, needs work. As you know they don't have master-slave . It isn't easy but it will work.....

Doc,
With the Corsair I put together, I used the sequencer built into the DX18. You can adjust the speed of the doors opening and closing and the time between the gear moving and the doors opening or closing. I did use 4 servos for each main gear door, all on the X+ module, but everything works perfectly. Oh, and I used the recommended Robart gear using air and they have been just fine and hold air for more than a week.

Kalzone, thanks for the reply! I love my sierras(5 sets), and I'm so glad u mentioned this as I was about to order the air setup from Horizon. I'll call Darrel tomorrow now! I to am going to power my Corsair with an electric motor as well. I will use the Rimfire 65cc equivilant, 12 cell (2-6 cell6000MaH batts) and Castle HV160 ESC. Could you possibly provide me a pic of your firewall/battery box setup? Looks slick!
I'm also toying with throwing in a sound system, as I happen to have the new high power 50 watt system from Benedini, complete with correct radial sound already programmed to it.
Here is a sample of the same sound system I have on hand flying with the same radial programming...it sounds pretty good if you ask me!
