Just found out with a G-62 they used 24oz of nose weight. Working on my sliding canopy today and hopefully have the engine mount at the Hobby Shop....then on to decals/graphics.
I appreciate the more skilled builders on here providing input it helps us down in the lower ranks!

[QUOTE=oriole;11891599]Could it be the sliders? My kit didn't come with the discs, so I had to make some out of thin plywood. They were suppose to be plastic originally.
[/
Boy that is weird my kit has both the plastic discs with the "key" and some smallplywood ones. I will just keep plywood ones aside.

Ah go for it Andy....
I've got the AeroWorks Mustang with Sierra gear and a DA-60, it's cool but it's not a Corsair.
I took my Corsair down to a builder/friend on Monday and they (another friend/builder) were really impressed with the FG-84. They each have one of these Corsairs and I looked at one of them with the seven cylinder glow radial. Absolutely COOL..... lol
My engine won't look that nifty, but I'll swing that Biela semi-scale three bladed prop with authority....

Ship number 314....aka N314RK completed!
Well......I finished her today "offically" Waiting on my kill switch, CajunRC graphics, and True Turn spinner and prop. The cowling seems like a pain to remove and install, the sliding canopy is very cool but took me awhile to get right. I also have about a 5mm space in my center section on the leading edge where she fits into the fuselage I can see the wing dowels through the gap. Horizon has been notified. Here are some pics....

Here are some more...... the airplane will have ship number "314" and have the "N" number of N314RK as if she is a current 2014 flying Corsair (my dream) ..
RK=my first to initials and also the initials of one Captain Richard "Dick" Kaiser former Naval Aviator and Eastern Airlines Pilot. When I was 12 I was lucky to stumble upon an open garage door and inside were several RC airplanes one of which was a Corsair along side a F8F Bearcat....this was circa 1983-ish....I asked if I could take a look....I was amazed at the size and scale not to mention the awesomeness of the Corsair, I met the man working behind a huge workbench and we exchanged handshakes---I introduced myself as the new neighbor kid down the street and found out that Capt'n Kaiser was a Pilot for Eastern and flew F4U-4's and -5's in Korea in the 50's ....he was impressed that a 12 year old kid knew what they were and I ended every answer in YES SIR! NO SIR!
Anyway this started a friendship and we "adopted" each other as he didn't have a son and I didn't have a father at times....he taught me to fly RC and over the next 25 years I grew up into a Commercial Airline pilot myself.....with much credit to "Captn Kaiser! "
This one is for you Captain Kaiser!

Although he was an engineer, I still went on to fly commercial airliners for a living also… kudos

Greg can you post a closer shot of your gap? Here is what I have.......
It is about 5mm.......not sure if it really matters but want to be on the safe side
Quick question.....
Any of you guys have a small space or gap on the front wing saddle where the wing goes into the forward fuse? I have about 5mm and I can see the carbon dowels going into the holes in the fuse. Is this normal? I know there is no way to adjust this.....wondering what you all have in the way of a gap?

If you look at the side view picture i posted. Post #1076 it appears as if i have the same gap.
I'm not to worried about it as this is a mass produced ARF not a self built project. If i had built it then i would be a little more critical about the fit of everything.

I ended up having to put some tape around the dowels as I have a little play in them and the center section felt a little loose. One I made the dowels a little "fatter" the fit is much more tight.
Weighed the airplane and she came out 27lbs. I will need to add about 28 oz or nose weight to get her to balance (this is with a G-62 magneto)
Also----My rudder failed! The rudder strut that comes into the fuse that you need to use a 9/32 wrench on will not tighten I can put a little pressure on the rudder with my hand and it will work itself loose. I'm talking about the bolt that threads into the "collar" that is supposed to hold the rudder post. Not working at all....I even changed bolts it seems I have a flat spot on my rudder post possibly.

Re-worked Corsair
I purchased a used Corsair with an FG-84 R3 motor in it. I normally go over everything in a used plane before I put it up, so I decided to cover and paint this one in a color scheme that I had used to enter the 85 Nationals competition, a burgundy and crème post-war racer, the Lucky Gallon. I still have a little left to do, mostly with the scale portions such as the detailed cockpit by Iflytailies. I don't know if I will be able to maiden it this year or wait until next Spring, but I think it came out pretty nice. If all goes well, I may decide to enter it in the Nationals in 2015, a 30 year repeat.

Neither planes have, or will have, a pump. I have run the engine on the Corsair and it is very nice, already set up and only needed a little tweak on the high end.
