Those bomb drop mecanisms are very susceptible to rf noise. I had one on a stuka with an electric siren on it and whenever I turned the siren on the mechanism started cycling all by itself. I used several capacitors to isolate the rf coming off the brushed siren motor to finally correct the problem. So, you'll need to identify the source of the noise, then figure out how to isolate it. I'm sure there are some rf gurus out there that can provide some guidance.

I had a bad ignition wire on my P47 and my throttle servo would advance on its own when the engine was running. Sounds like you may have a similar situation.

Thanks again for the information, my plans are to install the G84 without cutting the Cowl. Still deciding if I'm going to use the stock flex pipes or install the Keleo exhaust ring.

I've got a set of the white Robart pneumatic mains sold by Horizon for this model NIB which I do not need since we put the Sierra gear in mine, if you are interested perhaps we could work something out?

need help im trying everything to hing the rear doors but when i open the doors the hing pops off hing doesnt follow the door please can anybody post some pics or give me an idea on how to. im not very good at this door hinging thanks

Hi Zeeb- Could you explain what had to be done to get the Sierra gear in the wings and functioning? I am assuming it was not just a 'drop in' fit. (Nothing in scale modeling is ever that easy, right ?)

Not precisely, as I've said I didn't assemble the model so I only have a vague idea of what they had to do as the guys didn't really seem like they wanted to talk about it a lot so I didn't press the issue.... lol

They said something about having to move the gear mounts forward to get the upper struts in, and then they said something about, and I'm guessing here, the oleo portion of the struts being 1/2" shorter than the Robarts. It wasn't real clear to me exactly what they did and the put the gear doors on the model so I don't really see anything obvious that would indicate what they did. Darrell said the gear is actually for a P-40 and should basically "drop in" if the holes in the wing for the mounting plates were "just moved forward". I haven't talked to Darrell since I ordered the gear as it's installed and I figure there's no point in me trying to chase it further.

If I get a chance to ask the guys, I'll see if I can get a better idea of what exactly they had to do. They're taking a bit of a holiday break but they've also started putting a Shockwave together for me so their minds are kind of off the Corsair now...

Ashworthb, just a heads up concerning the Evolution 777. Every 777 I seen with a 3 bladed prop, the performance on takeoff was very poor, barely enough ground speed achieved for takeoff. The Evo 777 does not perform well with a 3 bladed prop and a 4 bladed prop would be totally out of the question. All of the owners switched to a 2 bladed prop and it made a world of difference during takeoff speed and flight speed.

As Roger said, or inferred correctly, more blades equal less efficiency. From an efficiency standpoint the perfect prop would be one blade, two next, three and so on. The reason you saw multiple blade propellers on WWII birds is for ground clearance of the prop as the hp ratings on the engines went up.

The guys that put my Corsair together both have one of these Corsairs and both have the Evo engine on them. They both run two blade props but I cannot tell you what size and pitch....

Thanks, the engine was broken-in using a 24 X 10 2 blade so I'll fly the maiden with that prop.

Hmmm, I purchased a 3 blade Biela (http://www.aircraftinternational.com...5/Default.aspx) and over in the EVO radial thread there's another guy using a 3 blade prop (although it's the Xoar, not Beila) and he says it flies great for his taste anyhow. I think he has the 7-70 as well which is the smaller capacity Seidel/UMS version.

Hopefully mine works out OK, might buy a 24x10 2 bladed prop as well just in case.

How can you tell if it's a Biela prop? I just purchased a 3 blade prop that was sold as a Biela and it looks nothing like the one you purchased at http://www.aircraftinternational.com...5/Default.aspx. Your prop looks much more scale than the one I got. Should it have Biela stamped on it anywhere? Any help appreciated. Sorry if this is a little off topic.

hopefully you didn't get ripped off gary! The one I bought has Biela on all 3 of the 'scale' Hamilton prop logo -circular logos in the middle of the blades-. Though I think there are 'standard' 3 bladed props, and semi-scale props like the one I purchased. Mine is the Corsair style semi-scale propellor. Looks great! Don't know how well it performs yet as I'm waiting on my 7-77 to be converted to CDI ignition at the moment.

Bingo!

Biela makes two (that I know of) types of three bladed props as chorner mentioned. I think one of the really interesting/funny things about the semi-scale and the Hamilton decals is that, from what I understand, there was a copyright issue about the decals so instead of saying "Hamilton Standard", they say "Hamilton Biela".

garyFL; you ordered the wrong prop. If you have not drilled the one you have or in any way modified it, Gerhardt is usually pretty good to work with, he might exchange it for you.

I really wanted that plane but we never got one and now that the 20cc is out that seems unlikely we will.

What engine are you planning to run Gary? If it's the 7-77 I'd love to hear your experience with the prop as well.
