Mine is on the rear recommendation and maybe even a little further back. Landings are easy and effortless using full flap and a touch of throttle until just before the wheels contact. In my opinion, this is one of the easiest nicest landing warbirds I have owned.
How the model is trimmed with full flap setting will also make a difference in how it lands. At about 1/3 throttle, mine has the elevator trim so that the model flies maintaining altitude with full flap. Less than this throttle setting, the nose drops. The amount the nose drops, depends on the throttle setting so you can do approaches using throttle to determine rate of descent until just before touch down and landing flair. I find this really helps because there is less of a possibility of stalling the aircraft than when using elevator to control rate of descent on final. A lot of this is personal preference but this works for me and may help you with greased landings if you feel comfortable with the suggestion.

Someone mentioned the solid built center section. I've had what I would call some less then "greased" landings with the Corsair, bounced a bit a few times. Now I noticed cracks in the fiberglass center section along the leading edge from the oil cooler inlets toward the outboard. Anyone else have these cracks?
Also where are you guys running the CG location? I still think mine is a little nose heavy and may account for some of the less than perfect landings.
thanks
Todd

I would also try moving the CG back a little and see how it is.

Thanks for the reply. Good information there. I'm going to recheck my CG location and likely move it back a bit by taking out some of the lead. I'll probably set it up as you indicated as well. Straight and level at 1/3 throttle with the flaps at full. It'll be a little time before I get to check it out as it's still winter here, although 60 today but very windy! All the snow is gone but not likely to be the end of it this season.

Yep...That is absolutely correct on all points IMHO! I have my Corsair setup the same way,and so nice! Very easy to land.

Not sure if anyone else had this problem with the sliding canopy but I noticed after landing the right side of the canopy was bowed out.
When the canopy is closed the left side is flush with the fuselage but the right side of the canopy has a small gap between the lower side and the fuselage.
I’m thinking this gap is allowing the canopy to flutter in flight and I would hate to have the canopy blow off.
I was able to fix this by adding a thin piece of metal to the inside of the canopy and two strong earth magnets to the side of the fuselage. Now when I close the canopy that gap is no longer there.

Has anyone had any issues with elevator trim changes? I notice on mine the trim seems to change when the plane has sat in the sun for awhile. I am thinking that the ultracoate is tweaking the elevators slightly. I am also having a hard time getting the covering to stop wrinkling. I have ironed it down several times and it still wrinkles. Anyone have any tricks I can try. Thanks

Stuka, if you plane to take your plane outside you will iron the covering back down just like the rest of us. The covering stinks and a sore point for me on this plane. I expected more. With the long elevator rods the change in temp can account for some of the trim issues. What servos are you using?

The covering is defintely a big turn off. I have gotten it a little better by tightening it up and then going over it with an iron. I have done this 3 times so far. I am using Hitec 5645s for the elevators. I remember when using the old nyrod pushrods that you could have trim changes due to heat, but I do not think it is likely with a solid rod. I think those stabs are built so light to help keep he weight down that they are flexing in this great Florida sun.

Hey guys. I am finishing up my center section of the wing and for the life of me cannot find the gear door stops that they talk about in step one of the gear door install. I have looked through everything and can't find them. Where have they been located when you guys have unpacked. I asked horizon and the guy I talked to was no help. Once I find those I can start to get everything ready for the first flight!
Thank you!

Adam, Glad you found them. I found mine after I had already made a set. I'm almost done with my Corsair but haven't decided on an engine yet. Leaning toward the Evolution 7 cylinder. What motor are you using?

You need to consider the Saito FG84r3 Bill. Awesome motor with great pulling power! But then again, you know that....

You are right Zeeb. Mine does have Ray's mods. Corsair Bill was with me when we fired it up for the first time. That was behind my comment of saying But then again, you know that.....

I am using the FG84 for mine. I am going to start without Ray's mods as the engine seems to run good from the factory and haven't seen the issues reported by others. Will report back once I have more runs on the engine. So far it is awesome though! Plus I am a mile high so we will see what that does for it
On another note, I am waiting for my new gear doors to arrive. The front gear doors for the struts are the same, not mirror of each other like they should be. Contacted horizon and they are sending a new set. So till then I am continuing on with the fuse so I can get this thing flyin!
