Hangar 9 60cc Corsair
#2653
I received my Robart wheels that I ordered, which were for the TF Hellcat. I liked the dips in the wheel and opted for those instead of the corsair wheels. It also came with a tailwheel that was way too big for the corsair retract. Although the website says the hellcat wheels are 5", the packaging says 5", and the robart tire says they are 5", they are actually 4.5"! I fly off grass and need the bigger wheels, not to mention bigger is more scale. Also worth mentioning was that they were hard as a rock! So I decided to send them back for a refund.
My question is are the H9 Robart Corsair 5" wheels actually 5"? If so I need to get some ordered up, which are backordered until late July. If anyone has a set to sell I'm interested as well.

Yep, you’re right there is some confusion regarding the Hellcat wheels. There is an addendum to the Hellcat instructions that the scale wheels will be 4.5” instead of 5”. When I received the scale wheels the packaging stated 5” but they were 4.5. I’m sure the downsize in diameter is due to the tight tolerances when the gear is retracted into the wheel well. HH and Tower need to change description on their website and packaging.

For comparison the TF Corsair tires are 4.5in dia. And it has a 1in. longer wingspan than the H9. The Robart 5in aluminum wheels set for the P-51 are actually very close to 5in so it’s strange the set you bought are that far off.
Take a look at Sierra Giant Scale for wheels if you want something better than Robart.
I dont one like the look but I’m kind of interested in the inflatable Dubro 4.5in wheels because you can run them at low pressure. The same wheels in solid foam are pretty stiff. It would be cool to take the gray plastic ugly wheel out and replace it with an aluminum one so you have the best combination.

I have 5” Sierra wheels on my p51 and I really like the robart tires that are installed on the wheels, so that is what I was expecting. (Yes Sierra wheels use robart tires). I really like the powder coat of the hellcat wheels. They look better than what I can Do with paint. I’m trying to finish my Pitts and start my Corsair all before our second child arrives. The pressure is now haha

My next stumbling block with installing the FG90 radial is with the gas tank. There is not enough room with Carburetor sticking in the fuselage so far. What did others do to relieve this problem?

I've been looking at this new UMS 125cc 5 cylinder radial. It measures a 265mm diameter and rated at 8 horsepower. I see the saito fg90 measures around 250mm. For those of you that have installed the saito radial, do you think there is any more room to fit this engine? I've been day dreaming. Another option is their 90cc 7 cylinder rated at 6hp and 230mm diameter which should fit without too much of an issue, but may be too small later down the road for another airplane.

I finally have the FG90, throttle servo, and gas tanks mounted. Tomorrow I am hoping to weigh the plane and check the CG. Those that have this same setup, did you have to add nose weight, and if so, about how much? I would like to compare with what I come up with.

Looks like I need to add about 2 lbs at the firewall to make the 120mm CG point.
I have an old cowl that was cut for a DLE-55 side exhaust. I then cut it for my FG90 Keleo exhaust. I will probably toss it unless someone thinks they might want it. Just pay for shipping.
I can post pictures if anyone is interested.
