lomcevac540T,

The three blade looks great.

Someone, Dgiatr asked about Sierra. I have a set on my ESM Zero and am very pleased. They were designed for the ESM Raiden but work well for the Zero. The angle is 90 degrees which is a little too much. Darrell was willing to reset them but I wanted to get on with the project and just shimmed them. Don't worry about the gear door. On one gear it worked perfectly, on the other I had to slightly relieve the inside of the door. I stripped the doors and fiberglassed them, then paint. The gear have 2 blocks with tapped holes that you may use to attach the doors.

Hi guys,

did you you dial in any down elevator with flaps? My Ziroli Zero would balloon when flaps were deployed?

Dave.

I've not used flaps on a big bird but on my .60 zero, I cut power and rotate a knob (old Futaba transmitter) on the downwind leg. The more I turn it, the more flaps I get. If windy, I need less flaps as wind gusts can cause the plane to balloon upward and then stall.

If I were you, I would do the first flap deployment with just a slight amount of angle, especially on maiden flight during landing. You don't want a snap on base leg and you don't want high and slow before touch down.

Dave.
It varies with each airframe and depends on balance as well. I usually do not program any in until after I try it on the first flight. I can always land without flaps if I need to until I get it adjusted.
My P-40 has none, my Hellcat has about 8%, my Corsair and Mustang have maybe 2%. I haven't flown my Zero yet, so not sure about this one yet.

Did everyone flying one of these find that the CG in the manual is correct? Or what CG did you use?

Do you know where you balanced your Zero? I read earlier in the post that they used 4 7/8" from the leading edge, just wanting to make sure this is correct.
Almost ready to maiden!

Hey there,

I balanced the Zero on the recommended CG of the Manual (140mm I think) after recalculating it - a must with the ESM CG .

Flies spot on with that setting and the AOT corrected.

I flipped my zero a couple of weeks ago and crushed the canopy. Unfortuneatly there is no spares around, neither the ESM nor the Topflite. So I borrowed another canopy that was a bit less ruined, fixed it, made a plug and built myself a really big vakuum forming box for the half meter long canopy...

OK, thanks!
That 140mm comes out to be about 5 1/2" and that is where it is currently balanced, just wanting to make sure.

Hey Reverend,

I'm supposed to be the first guy to get a canopy from ESM when they arrive...if they arrive. But it appears there are several right here on this thread that need one.

Maybe you could go into business selling replacement ESM model 21 zero canopies?

I dont want any copyright Issues with ESM (or Planet Hobby as they are called in Europe). All I wanted was a canopy.... They (and TopFlite) won't sell me one so...

Cant wait to do the masking for painting... :P

Lomcevak 540 T,

Great pictures and congrats to you on the successful flights!

Reverend,

I only need one and I promise not to turn you over to the SEC. Maybe cast a small i.d. plate some where or just add some detail. Then it would be different and they couldn't sue. You could probably sell at least ten of these right now especially if the canopy has a greater thickness.

Another thing is that a lot of people have requesting these and the company hasn't supplied them. What are we to do?

I am having trouble getting my gear doors to fit. For the doors to be flush with the bottom of the wing when retracted, they are against my tires which will keep them from turning. Anyone else having this issue? What are some other options to look at? I have the robart gear and struts, with the robart gear door mounts but this just don't seem to work out right. Maybe I am missing something.

I used thin aluminum for my doors and they work great. Use the originals as a template and then you can gently bend the aluminum to get a perfect fit.

Did you use the robart mounts with the wire? How did you mount them up?
