Ok thanks. Call me cynical but I've found that what's on a website doesn't actually mean it's available.

This one goes together quite easily. You can download the assembly manual from the robart website. Mine came out at 38 lbs. Im using a BME 110 twin with headers and cannisters. Balanced at the recommended CG with about 2 lbs of lead bolted to the engine box.

What about a saito FG 84 radial. Think it would fit?

I used Frank T. Dummy radial and had to trim the top rockers a bit to get it to fit. For the radial to fit inside the cowl, I think it would have to be mounted on the firewall without standoffs. Use a prop extension to clear the front of cowl. Then yes it could work. I think you have about 8" to work with to center the engine. imho
It would look and sound great though.

I have one I'm currently putting together. I have installed a DA 100 inline twin. I'll try to get some photo's up shortly.

see you soon,
John

John. I would like to see how you modified your firewall to fit the inline 100. I am just finishing my second Razorback build. One Zombie and one Snafu.

both have a DA85. On my Snafu I used an MTW 110 pipe. It exhausts out the scale hole.

Yes, I'm going to CA this weekend to help Joe with Zombie. He has some cooling issues.
Snafu could be flown now. But I want to do some weathering, lights, ect.

Would there be any way to eliminate that seam around the top of the fuse? I know its a lift out section that gives access to the servos etc. To me it's unsightly (call me goofy).

Thank you.

Default DA100 inline

Tony,
I used the original firewall and made a 3/8" horseshoe with another 3/8" backer. Epoxied it together and through bolted it all together. then spaced out the cowl another 1/4". The muffler is from J'TEC.

see you soon,
John

Agree, it is unsightly, but its an enormous amount of work to improve it. I have the v1 and v2. On the v1 I spent the better part of a month sanding, fitting, filling, sanding, fitting, filling. Its a lot of putting down mold release, filling with epoxy/microballoons, popping the hatch loose without breaking it, sanding, then do it again. Look at the result and ask yourself if it is worth it. I'm building the v2 right now and skipped blending the hatch in better.

I hope so! Do you have any suggestion or hints for cutting the canopy glass to fit the framework?
The frame on mine is quite thick in places and is going to require a lot of grinding to get the glass to fit flush.

see you soon,
John

I sat with a dremel and slowly ground it smooth until the windshield fit. It is important to get the surface even. from the factory it is very rough.

Last hatch question. Can't it be eliminated all together? This is a Ziroli P47 and that doesn't have a hatch.

It isn't a one piece wing. No opening on the bottom.

We balanced the Snafu per instructions. Had to add only 4 oz. of lead to the firewall with the DA100I. We then put her on the scales to check final weight and found her to be one ounce over 40lbs! Anyone else weigh their razorbacks?

see you soon,
John

both the planes I built required around 4lb of lead. Both have a DA85.

zombie is 38.5 with slimline pitts. Floats on landing
Snafu is 39lb with MTW 110TD pipe. Hasn't flown yet

That's good to hear! The 100 is 2.7lbs heavier than 85 plus, I added a resin cast radial from FTE that finished out at 13oz.
I used 8711hv servos and three 5200 duralites an still needed some nose weight.
I read somewhere that these planes came in at 35lbs. I feel better now,,thanks for the info.

How is Motor vibration on the DA100 inline? I was considering ZP GT80 twin. I think it would have plenty of power and has some wight to it. dont like adding dead wight if i dont have to.
The only thing is..if it would fit in the cowling.

Very smooth! I think the fact that each cylinder fires 180 degree's from the other may have something to do with it.

see you soon,
John
