Thanks.

I just finished re-habbing an AirWorld-190 with a DLE-170

At 54 lbs, it came in a lot heavier than my OLD Meister 33#, or even my first AirWorld at 45#

The old Meister floats like a Cub it's so light, the first AirWorld settled a little heavier, but still was a creampuff

When (if) spring ever arrives up here, I'll find out first hand how 54# flies.

Thanks for the report!

I think the FG Fuse along with the working canopy put the higher numbers of weight on mine. I have a friend that did the Meister 190A in Balsa Fuse and his plane is lighter than mine by 6 lbs. We had to put almost the same nose weight on ours though!

The working canopy...it's a good system but it is heavy. If I were to do one again, I'd either skip the working canopy or make up a way to go much lighter. I would bet it added 3 lbs to this plane. I would not change the way I did the Elev. Servos at all, even for the sake of CG balancing, I'd keep them right where I have them. So, I just think the FG Fuse will come in 3-4 lbs. heavier than the built up ones. This Fuse is so well done, the need for Former structures is minimized for sure.

I still miss my Airworld 190! Had a Moki 250...terrible issues with it is why I sold the airframe.

I would go on and on about how the Moki cost me one of my favorite warbirds EVER (AirWorld-190), but I don't want to hijack your thread with Bitterness and
Despair.

Suffice to say, the worst RC decision I ever DIDN'T make was to NOT yank the dang thing and replace it with a DA-150

Yea, my buddy has a ZDZ 160 in his. He owns 5 Moki's now and has not had one issue with any of them. All of them are purchased within the last two years though. I should have just put a 150cc engine on mine and not sell it but, I had someone that wanted it even with the engine issues it was having.

Best of luck.

Here's a bad picture of my 10 year-old Meister.

33 lbs powered by the now-defunct BME-61

I'm almost ashamed to put it up in juxtaposition with your masterpiece, but I am very proud that it has flown that long.

May yours do the same!

Looks great! Awesome to have a reliable bird like that for sure.

I am doing a Dora for a friend over the next Winter...learned much on this one, applying it all the next time!

Hi Ed,
Are you able to give me the link to your Spit build please, I am also building one. Was going to use a DA 85 but found out last night the motor is too tall, the plug hits the bottom of the fuse. What motor are you going with ?
Regards,
Mick Australia.

Hi Mick,

Here is the link-->http://www.rcscalebuilder.com/forum/...TID=20890&PN=1

Are you building the wood fuselage or going with the fiberglass fuselage?

You've asked the million dollar question about the engine! I am considering either a G62 with a gear reduction unit, or an inline twin. There are several inline twin options, including both two stroke and four stroke engines. I have received a few dimension drawings, but have not had the time to measure.

Thanks Ed, I've seen the inline options, I think the ZDZ would be one, but I had a bad run with a twin a few years ago and swore I'd never go that way again, they may have improved I dont know. There is the Koln the Austrian one but you need a kings ransom for that baby and Zenoah............I guess I'm not a fan either. Hard to please DA or 3W was going to be the go but both have the height problem.

In line twin's sure sound better than a single! And the vibration reduction is worth considering too. I owned a ZDZ In line twin 6 years ago and loved the sound and design too...ran it in a CARF Mustang which was a perfect fit in a long nose install. I will say this, I hated ZDZ because they were so hard to start each time, but the inline twin started like a DA!

Best of luck.

There is a guy in California who used a ZDZ 100, inline twin, in his 1/4 Spitfire and I saw it fly several times. It ran well and had good power. I need to find out how he exhausted the hot air from the cowl. DA makes an inline 100 that is reasonably priced and they have good service. They sent me the dimensions and I have to determine whether it will fit. Although I never saw it fly, one of these was used in a 1/4 scale Hurricane and the pilot told me it ran well and had plenty of power.

Rex, thanks for the information about the ZDZ. My apologies for getting off topic here on your thread.

LOL, Ed no worries man! Yea, I'd opt for a DA if they have one for sure!

Best of luck on the project.
