Starting to fit the outer panels to the center panel and considering whether to add a 1/32 or 1/16 plywood rib to each side of the center panel and root ribs of the outer panels. The concern assembling the outer panels numerous times (i hope) may damage the balsa sheeting. If there is an plywood rib around the perimeter that matches the outside of the sheeting, during assembly and transport the sheeting would be better protected. Any thoughts on that are welcome.

I wouldn't even think twice about it Steve. I always cap the ends of control surfaces and the like for the same reason. Anywhere you have exposed balsa edges you can count on them getting damaged sooner or later. Plus, it just gives a nicer finished look to things. Thin G10 fiberglass sheet works well too and nothing is more ding resistanct than that stuff. (And it's ready to paint!)

This is the 42" span control line (CL) plane kit that I have, it is a Sterling S-46 Hellcat profile for a .35 engine such as a Fox or Testor McCoy Red Head, or Schneurle .25 like the OS Max LA:

http://www.outerzone.co.uk/plan_details.asp?ID=4754

I hope to make it a near future build.

OldScaleGuy, I've been considering the possibility of a .15 nitro version from sheet foam, made using the outlines from the profile plans.

Now that sounds like fun GallopingGhostler. I have a .15 size Me109 with a Norvel .25 in it and it flies like a little rocket ship. Please keep us informed if you do that.
Need some advice on the Ziroli Hellcat that is now under construction. It is fitted for a DLE-85 and i have a Dubro 32 ounce tank that will hit the top of the wing. So, i am in search of a tank in the 30+ ounce range that will fit. Any suggestions?

Will do. Have a Sig Wonder received from a modeler getting out of the hobby. It had a Magnum .25GP plain bearing Schneurle in it. At my age, I don't have the reflexes of a teenager, it would have been a real pocket rocket. I downscoped it to the recommended maximum, Enya .15-III TV. Finishing installation details. Once I fly will probably restore testosterone to my system, else there is only one thing left. BUILD BIGGER!.

A kind gentleman through a request on Hip Pockets Aeronautics Forums fulfilled a long time desire of mine. He sent me a copy of the Scientific 18" wingspan Hellcat CL kit plans. Wow!

Making some progress, a few days of vacation are great.
