Wow, what a beautiful picture in the middle.
Steve, I redrawed my pictures. The whole airplane is same, but I drawed a spining prop. It looks better. Maybe you´ve already seen Bf-109 on my dad´s car and badge of aircraft engineer on my car. Also I made a special cartoon on my tool box in a job. We had to make a markings so I painted a number and picture.

I like the spinning prop, it adds more realism. The picture in the center i purchased at the Dayton Air Museum about 20 years ago and had a local shop make the frame. We also have a print of Pappy Boyingston crew flying out of Munda that those that were still with us about 10 years ago personally signed. This was won at a silent auction by my wife. I have no idea what she paid for it. It is probably best i don't know.

If if you take a look on YouTube there are plenty of videos on servo modification that shows you how to make a linear servo from any servo you have. It's a pretty simple task....

Have not posted progress on mine - it is ready to fly as is, but will finish with Callie Graphics and Rivets and surface details from Chad.

Did scale gear with a set of gear covers from Chad, scale cockpit and sliding canopy, drop tank and dummy engine. Drop tank and cockpit are the last ones from Dionysis.

Have to do the walkways, finish decals, add rivets and inspection panels, then weather and clear coat. Getting there though. Not bad for a Hangar 9 ARF

I like that, it is a sharp looking F6F in WW2 target tug colors, you don't see that too often. bet you or others flying won't have any problems seeing it in the air.

This one is actually an F6F-5PK. Photo drone. Was used at China Lake to photograph and carry instruments into the atomic blast clouds at Alamagordo. Has tip tanks that I will eventually add on.

Primary reason for this color scheme was to have something easy to see. My wife is learning to fly and this will eventually be hers. I have a P-47 . The Hellcat is her favorite plane.

Have all the surface details.in it now and am adding the fuse rivets - thanks Chad!

Hey Rob nice Hellcat you've got there!
After all this cosmetic work you added to your beautifull F6F don't you concider putting some flaps? It would be a good help to your wife's flying, coming in for landing at lower speed, while giving her time to improove her skills with your help of course!
Cheers

There is no real weight. Right ? So buy a Landing Gear Sequencer from a place. They control / adust speed, different up & down rates. Go to www.hobbyking.com read all the different types.

Please add me to the Hellcat brotherhood. I am currently restoring a Byron's Original. My buddy recently painted the real deal at his business. I hope to be able to post those pics as well.

Thanks! Here are a few to start. I bought her I nice condition but...not nice enough. Plans are to strengthen, streamline switch/fuel/batt access then add screws, rivets, and graphics.

Looks like a great place to start mk23. The Byron Hellcat (as with most Hellcats) is a sterling performer and well worth the time spent adding the detail necessary to make it a real stand out at the flying field. Look forward to your results.

Tell your buddy he done good. The tri-color paint scheme which it wore previously has to have been one of the worst ever applied to a Hellcat! Not even close to accurate and reminded me of some of the really awful pseudo military paint jobs which were so common on warbirds back in the '70s. The new paint job has turned it into one of the most beautiful and authentic looking Hellcats around. Simply gorgeous!

Before the new paint job...

...and after!

Hey Chad,
Have you done anything else to the large scale Hellcat you were designing?

I think part of the problem is most people don't really know how the navy planes were painted to begin with. IIRC, the tricolor paint scheme was a short term deal that was phased out in favor of the all dark blue after it had been implemented to replace the blue/grey upper and white lower scheme used through the Solomon campaign.
