Casey,

I really like what you are doing with the Zero. Really nice work. Much like your others.

Thank you very much!

I repositioned the hinge pins in the ailerons and wing. Got those temporarily hung today as well. I can now go ahead and use the pinking tape (after I cover the ailerons with fabric.)

Well the rains let up today, so I was able to get three coats of primer filler on the bottom of the wing. After running 1/64th tape for the panel lines of course...

Casey, would you like to have some other materials about Zero?

One can never have enough! Please share. Books on the zero are few and far between actually. The first book that I posted above, I had to pay $90 for and that was used. It's been out of print for several years, but it is the one that I would suggest to anyone if they're doing a zero build. It covers all models of A6M up to the end of the war(A6M7 variant). It also provides three views of every variant, as well as quite a few really nice color profiles.

I sprayed one last coat of filler primer to even out everything on the top of the wing.

Once painted up, I believe these will work nicely as exhaust stubs...

Used Medium hingepins to (temporarily) mount the flaps, 4 per side. I get really nice deflection with these! I'll mount them as soon as I get the internal bays painted. I'm waiting on paint at the moment, it should be here this week. I'll use a coat of silver, followed by Tamiya clear blue then Tamiya clear green to achieve what I'm looking for

I also need to get some paint for the wing mixed up as well. I did the fuselage with these rattle cans but it was a pain to say the least. I'll have some mixed up and use my HVLP detail gun to shoot it on the wing

That's too funny, Casey!! I bought a 6 can "short case'' of that very same color for my Zero and then decided on the camo pattern that I ended up with. Now we have several Fossil colored wicker baskets and bird bath in that color because my wife can't stand to see an interesting color rattle can just lay about.....

I'm glad I'm not the only one who though that this color was a near perfect match for the IJA Cream/tan.

Well I was able to get some finish paint on the bottom of the wings! More tomorrow.

Frets, the guys out at the museum told me, that this is actually a better color match than what they have on their Zero sitting in the museum lol

Thanks Chad!

I have to admit, I'm pretty happy with the way this thing is turning out... Hard to believe it started off its life as a CMP ARF

The weather finally cooperated and I was able to get the top of the wing painted this morning.

Winds died down enough to get a final coat of paint on today. I'll wet sand it down with some 800 tomorrow morning, then it should be done!

I'll try to get the meatballs on the top and bottom of wing, and the red "don't walk" border for the flaps painted on tomorrow.
