Lol no, the red circles on the wings. The term meatballs is an American slang for describing the markings on the Zero.

Ok, so I got in a little time in on the flaps. The Japanese used what is called, Aotake preservative on their bare aluminum. The color of the preservative (when first applied), is pretty darn close to what I've ended up with. Which is basically a clear blue. Now, overtime this color would "green up" a bit(depending on the parts exposure to the elements). So, in older plane the part would have more of a green color to it(especially in exposed areas ), where a newly released plane would still be a blue. Make sense? Lol. Ok clear as mud. Luckily in one of the pictures that I'm posting,I have my sample piece next to pictures in a book, so you can see what I'm talking about.

It's the lower right piece in the pic... You can see where the exposed area is green

The flap bays (in the wings)get the same process. The silvers drying now. I'll lay in the clear blue paint tomorrow.

I'll then move onto the wheel wells and repeat the process, minus the clearcoat, as I have glassed the inside of the bays with 2 ounce glass

Casey, you chose very good paint. It looks like original Japanese from Mitsubishiīs factory.

Hung them to see what they look like.

Since it's the wife's birthday today, I'm not going to do much more on the plane today. Got to get ready to head out to the beach now!

I've got the ailerons are covered in fabric and pinking tape applied. Just hit them with paint, so when it drys, I'll finish hinging them. (I've already glued the hinges in the wing.)
The list is getting shorter!

I've got the ailerons glued in place. Added some trim tabs for both. I've installed both the flap and aileron servos, and got some paint in the wheel wells.

I'll work on getting the gear back in the wing and glueing the flaps tomorrow.

I was able to get the flaps glued and adjusted today. This is about 60 degrees of flap, although I can get more. I also installed the gear today. I still need to think about where to mount the board and battery for the retracts, as well as run some extentions though the upper wing.

My toilet paper rollers turned out pretty nice as exhaust stubs.

I'm going to lightly sand down the cowl and give it one more light coat of flat black before glueing them in.

I worked on some small stuff.
Wingtip lights painted.
Mounted the wing.
Connectors all done for the ESC.
I also mounted my two receiver battery's in the motor mount box(2 six volt) and put this wire in the hatch so I can open it. It virtually disappears once the cowl is on.

I've hit the cowl with another light coat of flat black. I'll get the ESC mounted tomorrow, and then reinstall the cowl after I glue in the exhaust stubs
