Just making a point, cause some of us get really anal over things like a spinner gap

Right or wrong it will still fly with the gap or no gap. If that's the way the motor fits it's the way it fits.

Balsa wood ring. Sand it to shape. Paint it and forget it.

If you look on the Spitfire cowl on the full scale, you will see an oil ring. Make that ring out of lite ply
to fill the gap, paint it flat black or match the cowl paint. Now your gap will filled and you have a scale
cowl. I did it on a ESM 50cc and it looked great.
Just a thought.
