P-47 Thunderbolt Brotherhood (All P-47s Welcome)

"Mine is the older style with side muffler port although I suspect the starter would work the same on either.
I don't think the on board start will be to popular with the 3d pilots due to the added weight."
I don't believe there are a lot of 3D War Birds out there. 3D is just another R/C discipline with Little to NO discipline
Any of My War Birds can out run if not Out Fly My 3D's. A self starter isn't necessary on anything Just a FUN addition.
A friend at the LakeLand R/c has a Nick Ziroli plans built 92" P-47 w/ a GT-80 twin that we have clocked with GPS at 120mph wide open. The sound is fantastic. JMHONick Ziroli Plans

I have the Hangar 9 P-47 150 Razorback that needs an engine. I’m looking for a gas engine that is reasonably priced? I don’t need a lot of speed just one that runs good. I have a Moki 1.8 for it but so far I can’t get it run at low rpm. I was thinking about getting the DLE 35RA.

either on your web site or the add for the Memorial Day War Bird Rally I just clicked on on RCU P-47 Thread? Just makes it easier to find ya. You also said Free Camping is that for those that arrive early and leave late? Is it primitive camping i.e. no hook ups?
Went to post this on your web site (after I googled it) and when I submit it all I get is a 404 page not found. Thought U might like to know...

I have been quiet because I've been quite busy out in the garage painting my TF GS P-47. I started with a ARC Tar Heel Hal and converted it to a razorback using one of my buddy Terry Farmer's Wylie Warbirds conversion kits. This plane represents a lot of firsts for me:
I am using a technique called pre-shading to help make the plane look like a beater.Basically you airbrush black on the panel and rivet lints, then paint over with the primary colors. It gives subtle color variations representing fading and abuse. The first shot at 'neutral gray' did not work out, so I darkened it and reshot, looks better than in the pictures, now.
The OD and gray are now on, so it will be masking time for the D-Day stripes. I plan on ordering the markings stencils from getstencils.com. I am hustling to get the paint on because I understand I need it to set for ~2 weeks before sanding to cure; it has a 400 grit sandpaper feel right now. The plan is to have it ready for Warbirds Over Texas which is the 13-15th June at the North Dallas RC Club. The CD has to have a nice looking plane!
The powerplant will be a DLE55. The plane is in the 90% done, 90% left to do phase. Special thanks to Terry Farmer, Top Gun pilot Gary Mills and Dave Schaeffer for their coaching and support.

Gary, I am glad it wasn't major. You could have fixed it if it was but still glad.
I did the same thing with my little Corsair 50. I just finished fixing her but she was really bad. Had to get a new wing. I should be able to fix the old one with time. Also had to make a new engine mount, replace firewall, all that good stuff..........

All part of the fun. I used to get really mad if I crashed. Not that I enjoy it now, but I don't get mad anymore. I just break out the glue and get to fixing. Some real nice looking jugs around here.
