Today was a fabulous day with perfect weather, so off to the field for further test flying. As noted before, I had a few corrections to be made after the maiden. My buddy Charles Shafer took it up and then I flew it for a while to get used to this big plane, then Charles landed. After topping off the fuel and air, it was my turn. I tell you, this Top Flite P-47 is a very easy plane to fly. I have differential aileron, and only use a little rudder on turns. I got some decent pictures in the sunshine, versus the gloom of the maiden flight day
I am very happy and proud of this plane. It was a lot of learning but well worth it!

Lifer,
It is a DLE-55 standard exhaust with a J-Tec muffler turning a Zinger 22x10. Plenty of power, good running engine. My first gasser, so I had a lot of help getting it tuned for the maiden, no adjustments needed yesterday. I am in love!

Tailskid,
I got rid of most of my glow stuff (two left in vacation home in Sedona), the rest (~12) are electric. My wife asked me what I was going to build next ... hmmm. Does anybody make a decent P-47N? We have one at the Cavanaugh Flight Museum that is in ace-in-a-day on the last day of the war Oscar Perdomo's scheme

Well, after thinking about it, and reading post after post, I decided to pick up a TF P47 Gs kit. Can't wait to stary building! I'm going to do the razor back version. I want to build it as close to scale as I can. Power, thinking something around 60cc and swinging a 4 blade prop. I'll be posting as I'm building :]

Follow up on droppedgmc: does anybody make a decent looking flyable scale 4-blade prop that would work with my DLE-55? I like the way mine flies, would like to improve the looks.
Thanks!

[h=2]DL50 VS Zenoah G62[/h] So i have a 29% great planes christan eagle, and it weighs in at 19lbs with the zenoah g62 its heavy, I'm looking to lighten things up a bit while keeping great power in mind, would there be a drastic change of power? or would this be a bad choice?
SPECS on DL50:
General Specs:
- Bore: 1.693 (in.)
- Stroke: 1.378 (in.)
- Shaft: Single + 4 bolt
- Low RPM: 1350
- High RPM: 9000
- HP: 5.200 bhp@7500 RPM
- Weight: 47.62 oz.
SPECS on Zenoah G62
General Specs:
- Bore: 1.900 (in.)
- Stroke: 1.400 (in.)
- Shaft: 10 x 1.25mm thread
- Low RPM: 2000
- High RPM: 10000
- HP: 4.750 bhp
- Weight: 73.00 oz.
Don't for get about the Ralph Cunningham Electronic ignition version of the G-62

The guys at Desert Aircraft told me that a 4blade prop (19X8 or 20X10) would cook the motor... too much. The Xoar 2blade 22X10 in the video is just right... if you need to swing 4blades then the G62 would be a wise choice...
