Droppedgmc, you will enjoy with your new project.

My first kit was that that P 47. Unfortunately at that time I wasn't made so much building process, but here you can find some pictures of weathering. That was my first iron rivets, later I star adding rivets made from vinyl foil...

Also, weathering sas made like that, just on that model, but final result was, I think, good...

Here is a link to my web site, but language is Serbian... Pictures tell 1000 words...

My son and I had a great summer campaining our old Byron Jug, what a neat old plane. We have also managed to pick up a partially built YA Razorback, so the P-47 saga continues!

Mirce, thanks for sharing that! I may try and do the vinyl rivets and paint over, but, that looks like a good option after paint

one question, I do not want to use covering when I do my finish. I'm going to paint it. After I achieve the smoothness I want on the airframe, do I need, or have to fiberglass with light weight cloth and apox finish resin, or will primer and paint be enough?

You must add light fiberglass cloth...

You will have to fiberglass with at least 0.5 oz cloth to achieve a paintable surface.

droppedgmc,
Here a just a few pictures of my Carf P-47 with Mirces rivets applied to it after a season of flying. I then had to go back and meticulously re-hand paint each and every rivet after i had finished placing some 60,000 of them onto the model.

HoundDog,
I'm never in the same place in the U.S.A is what it means.

As far as the spec's on the plane. WS 110" Lgth 98" Wght 50 to 55 pounds. Powered by a Moki 250. Radio gear is Spektrum.

Also, i do have plenty to do in the winter. But i also have a passion for the hobby.

Good prop recommendations for the DA 50 on the Topflite Giant P-47 arf? I'd like lots of speed on the low pass and some prop rip too.
