The stories this old girl could tell! Unfortunately you just wont find one in Australia but I still saw the Prat & Whitney R2800 at Air and Space museum when I was in Washington, from a machinists point of view they are amazingly compact for 2800 cubic inches. No computers when these bad boys were designed and built.

The largest piston engine the company produced, it displaced 4,360 cubic inches. Growth models developed ratings up to 4,300 horsepower.
The engine was configured with four rows of cylinders arranged in a spiral to enhance cooling. Its primary application was heavy transports and bombers. Four Wasp Majors powered Boeing's giant, double-decked Stratocruiser, the 377. An Air Force B-50, also powered by four Wasp Major engines, was the first airplane to fly nonstop around the globe, a feat made possible by aerial refueling.

That option did cross my mind, i was hoping for the h9 version so my Hand written removable panels can go into the new one and match the panel lines.
I fear i will end up using a top flight cowl.
It hurt bad when that cowl got damaged

67.24 US Dollar x2 = $134.48 ... Looks like free shipping and U get a spare too.
If they ship to the USA for FREE
Too bad U don't know someone going to the UK they could pick one up and keep it in their carry on. Just a thought.

Guys I tried these guys, with exchange rate and shipping it was just under $200.
A friend has an unfitted one, ill pull a mold off it so im not in this situation again.
I contacted Horizon Hobbies, they wont even attempt to contact their manufacturer, im sure they still have a mold to make a raw product
Cheers Bk

Thanks HD, I'll probably do my Spitfire cowl at the same time. I had my own business for 5 years making molds and laminating fibreglass products so its no big deal.
It annoys me that Horizon H just walk away from these bigger models with no support. If they want nothing to do with it why not authorise their suppliers to take over on old stock like cowls.
