Hi all, after researching for weeks I just received my GS P 47 kit, Robart retracts and air tank kit. It will be my first warbird build. I am still looking for some decent 5" main wheels and don't want to shell out for the aluminum ones. What would be a good semi scale choice?
Thanks

Might be nice to tell us the specs even the fly-in it where the Pic was taken. Not being critical Just saying

Good looking JUG Especially when one flows it up and fills the whole screen. Don't want to seem picky but what Airforce/Country does the 45 RPM Records represent.

HoundDog you should remember, you gave me a hard time about the pics in that post appearing upside down
Cheers!

I don't have too many problems with memory, mine only resets every time I sleep!
The markings on the Jug are RAF ( English ), 134 Squadron based in Burma 1944. The British used that different roundal without the red centre to avoid confusion with the Japanese "Meatball" marking.

Hi Guys. I just bought the new Razorback version of the Robart Ziroli. Fumbling my way through that build now.
I'd like to join the brotherhood.
For initiation, I offer up my Top Flight GS P47. G62, Robart Retracts. Built from the ARC kit, glassed, and painted. I took features from several planes to create this fictional paint scheme. It's mostly a mish-mash of Gabby Gabrieski's camoflage paint job, and the nose art from Miss Behave. I did not go nuts on scale bits, like inner gear doors or tail doors, or bomb hangars, but I did go nuts on the weathering. This is (was) my weekend beater.
Unfortunately, I landed her upside down at 100MPH+, on her 141st flight, and sold the remains to a buddy of mine...which led to the purchase of the bigger, hopefully better, Robart Ziroli...

I'm building another new Giant TF Razorback soon and purchased this Saito FG60R3 also... May I ask how you like that engine and how well does that P-47 fly with it?

The radial isn't nearly as strong as the EME 55 that was in the plane. However, it has plenty of power for good scale flying. My plane is light at just under 22 lbs. The engine is still getting broken in and is getting better each time. It turned the TF 22x10 at about 6200 rpm on the ground. Follow the Saito instructions to the letter and you should enjoy the engine very much.

I'm in the process of building a Top Flite P-47 gold edition kit and am having trouble with the Robart mechanical tail wheel retract #121. The darn thing seems to be very hard to retract all the way and also very hard to get moving from the retracted position. Does anyone here have any experience with this retract? I've been puzzling over this for a few days now and have made no progress at all.

If you can't get the Robarts sorted out get one of these and your problems will be over. I'm using them in my P-47 and they have been flawless.
