Finally finished the detail work on the TF Giant Razorback, but are they ever really done?

Flymore, I have gotten myself into that blinded situation at distance... it is the worst feeling ... and then to crash from it tops it. Lost my first P51 as a newbie that way...

Dryverman, what a finish ! Every time I see a nice Razorback version, and then a bubble version.. I can't decide which I prefer.. yours has me leaning that way again.

Nicely done sir! I think many people overdo the weathering, yours looks great!
So you used Behr house paint? Please explain more. How did you tell HD the exact green you wanted? Did you clear coat the plane? With what? Where did you get the decals and nomenclature?

More importantly, where in the world did you find an ARC?

Heirmeistr, thanks! I took a sample of solartex from another project to them for the match. I used pencil lead VERY sparingly for the weathering, then sealed it with a LIGHT coat of Minwax polycrylic. The decals and nomenclature are from Callie Graphics great quality and service, btw...

tailskid...looking great so far!
acdii...if that question is for me...it's from the kit, not the ARC

The one Tailskid posted is clearly an ARC, the string in the wing is a dead giveaway! Well, that and the parts being in plastic bags too. Did not know TF made a P-47 ARC.

I can't find it on the Tower Website as well as the Horizon site and this is all I got:

https://www.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXZHK0&P=7

"not carried"

The ARF costs $799 and when I bought my ARC the price for the ARF was $699 and I got the ARC for $650!

I would prefer the ARC over the ARF any day. That way I can make it mine and also makes it easier to go through the construction to make sure it wont fall apart in the air. I have the Hanger 9 150 P-47 razorback. Good flying plane as long as buildings don't leap out and flip it over.

I was surprised at the quality of construction, but did find the ailerons and flaps trailing edges fitting tightly, but (surprise) no glue along the seam. Glued well against the formers inside, but they just had some 'love' holding them together....something you would never see on an ARF.

I put the ARF together for a friend last winter, parts fit was the best I've ever seen in an arf. But I went over everything with an iron and heat gun before starting the assembly and the covering still wrinkled and bubbled first time in the sun...

Just keep putting small pin holes in the bubbles and wrinkles and iron them out. It may take a season or two, but they will go away.

Have a look at https://aircorpslibrary.com/ they have heaps of factory drawings & manuals for a good range of aircraft including the P-47.
