M2 Browing 50 cal Machine Gun
I have begun putting these 3D models on the market at the request of some enthusiast at fly-in. One of the most interesting problems I have run into is that manufacturers are not accurate when they advertise the scale of their planes. I have been manufacturing this weapon with the barrel hanger that appears in the original specification, but the item does not appear in any period photos. I have been providing, but is that necessary.
The other issue is that there appears to be two versions of the barrel for this machine gun. The one I am producing has the more common type seen on the B17 and P47, but photographs of P38's show a different barrel for their 50 cal. Is there any demand for the alternative barrel end?

It needs to have the right barrel on them. I have 10 I am building for a 1/6th scale b-17. You can buy kits all day long for the .50 but none have aircraft barrels. I have a scale 3 view I bought from bob banka, If you have some 1/6th aircraft barrels I would buy them.

Actually I looked up B17 photos and there were a several different versions of the 50 cal. But the one shown is one of the more common aerial variants of the M2, perforated shroud with a tapered muzzle. We have that. If you look at the pic I sent you will notice that there are two muzzle ends, both were used in B17. The tapered one was also used on the P38 and the non-tapered end was used on the P47.
WE HAVE WHAT YOU WANT.

What I have been looking for is simply the barrels that can be set to protrude from the wing or cowl mounts, no need for anything else, is this something that you can supply? At the moment I have a need for 2 0.50 in 1/5 and 4 0.30x also in 1/5 or 4 .50 in 1/7 scale. Can you help?
Cheers,
Thanks

Yes we have the 30's and 50's done.
There are several versions of the 50's. Do you know what version? (I know the versions for the P47 and P38's)
Adjusting scale is no problem for us. All our work is 3D printed so we just rescale the base drawing and make some fine adjustments.
With Gun Barrels the main cost is machine time not plastic. These machine take more time to build height than width, so barrels take lots of time.

I used the machinegun you can see here;
http://www.dragon-models.com/d-m-item.asp?pid=DRF70581
A very nice scale looking gun. Used it on a Stuka.
Very disappointed when the barrel looked like the air-cooling wasnt sufficient! But as you say, perhaps these are made of inferior plastic.
These guns are nice for Stukas from ESM, but the Stuka's are more like 1/7, I think, and the gun is 1/6, so they are a bit too big. I guess all Ziroli Stukas would like a proper gun, with magasines, and spare magasines.

I will post a website link as soon as the designers get back from holiday and get the site up.
At the moment it is a holding page for the Hive War Kickstarter; a Victorian Sci-Fi miniatures and for roleplaying game developed by Aerolyth Enterprises and backed into RC products, because my brother and nephew wanted some custom parts. The website is being developed at Rosaminiatures.com.
I will be doing two Kickstarters of my own too gauge the RC-Market and help get better equipment. The 3D printer industry is really improving their products over the last two years.
As for "inferior" plastic. I am not sure that is the right word. The miniatures in question look injected molded. One can use almost any type of plastic. If it is real hard it may be ABS, but if it is flexible at all its most likely is some kind of polyvinyl product. There are advantages to flexibility, unfortunately there are down sides also. If you really need a flexible part I would you one of the resins printed in the Object line, these printers were designed to make prosthetics and the material is durable but a little pricy.
I sent the request for 50 cals to Dan, my artist working on this project last night: so the project is in the que.
One of the objectives of posting on RC Universe is to find product demand. I am more a model ship person personally so I need help in determining what products the aircraft modelers want. So please feel free to speak up. It cost me a little over 120USD to put a new product on the market so small market size is an issue for me.

Post script: I looked up the armaments on the B17's
B17 E had 1 30cal 8 50 cals
B17 F had 11 50 cals
B17 G had 13 50 cals in 8 positions (2 in the Bendix chin turret, 2 on nose cheeks, 4 guns in two staggered twin waist guns, 2 in upper Sperry turret, 2 in Sperry ball turret in belly, 2 in the tail and one in the nose)

We Currently have the following German weapons on Special Order:
1) German MG15 with saddle ammo cans.
2) MG 151/20 20mm cannon 1/5 scale.
3) MG81Z twin mg in 1/5th scale:
4) Bordkanone 3.7 (37mm AT cannon pods)
The MG15 prototype was completed last night and I should have all the bugs worked out and be shipping out by this weekend.

I have renderings of the our new 50cal aerial barrel. We should have a test print done Sunday or Monday, right after I print the MG15 for several parties. If all goes well we can start deliveries of these barrels next week.

I have discovered that a lot of the WWII model kits are actually a little of scale. I highly suggest measuring wingspan and fuselage to check scale. One of the great advantages of 3D printers is the ability to make adjustments for scale. The down side is that the machines are a tad bit slow.
The MG151/20mm is on the drawing boards and the next model. I estimate one to two weeks to get everything right.
