What's the plan for a rainout on Sat? Not looking too good right now.

As it is an AMA sanctioned event, it will be held in any event. Winds look okay, and the rain may, or may not arrive. In the event of a rain-out, we will have the field open Sunday, but no guarantee of a lunch for the pilots as the volunteers are only committed to Saturday.

Final Report:

The weather was pretty dicey for an airplane event, but we held it regardless. Around 10 AM the rain stopped, and people started pulling into the parking lot. About 20 pilots showed up and there were about 40 or so planes. The cooks got to work and the flying began. Attendees came from as far away as Des Moines as well as local pilots.

There were no crashes but one chopper model of the Navy Sea King sustained some slight damage when it tilted on it's side after landing. We viewed a lot of WW2 aircraft and one Korean War model of the F-82, and a Vietnam-era target drone model of the MiG 29.

A special tip of the hat to "RadfordC" for really showing all of us how it is done. He rolled in with his trailer and unloaded a 1/4 scale Spad, and P-40. As well, he unloaded a P-6 biplane and an electric B-17. Flew them all several times and drew a round of applause from an appreciative audience. Thank you for your participation!

The consensus was positive, everyone ate really well, and it was agreed we'll do it again next year. Til then, happy landings!

John, here is the link to the air compressor that we talked about: http://www.harborfreight.com/air-too...sor-69284.html

It's on sale this weekend for $28, and there is a 20% off coupon available, too. http://www.harborfreight.com

radfordc,

I'm going to open the field this morning at 10am. It's perfect outside if you would like to try the field with south winds and clear skies?

The fine print on the 20% off coupon says cannot be used for compressors
