I picked up a Top Flite P-51 pilot and cockpit kit for the 60 arf from Tower hobbies. From what I can tell it will be a perfect match for the Gold kit.

Ralph, I see what you mean. After looking closer at the B configuration, he fits in there rather nicely! Thanks! Sounds like you got shorted a pilot figure with your plane

Here's mine. TF GS ARC modified a bit. Spychalla cowl (highly recommended!), DLE-55RA, Down and Locked modified Robart gear with inner gear doors, fiberglassed and Warbird Colors finish. 30 flights to date.

Pictures should be of RC builds not the real thing, don't know how they can qualify.

Hoss, I don't think Great Planes ever made a big Mustang. I may be wrong, but I don't think so. Looking at the thread, it's hard to tell enough from pic. The ball links low on rudder makes me think its a Byron. If its a glass fuse that also would point to a Byron. Foam wing? Detailed panel lines in fuse? Need better pics to be sure. If its is a Byron, they fly excellent. If it is a built up fuse and wing, it could be many kits in that size.

Thank you GIVdriver......
He says it's a glass wing. The fuse has panel lines. The picture you are seeing is a painted model.
I think I may pass on it.
I really thank you for replying............

Hi John,

I have a Nozen P-51 that has retracts in it. I used the Robart #152 retracts. The way the wing is made, I have had nothing but problems with the mounts staying in the wing. The 152 Robart retracts are mounted at the very front of the wing. As you can tell, there isn't much to hold them in. I think Robart makes a large set of retracts like the ones that they make for the Top Flite P-51. Also, I think Sierra makes a large set for the P-51. Good luck......

Leroy. I'll take that as a complement! It is a Top Flight kit. Currently on display at Sac Air Force Museum between Omaha and Lincoln Ne. Aircraft in background are full scale. Look close lower left and you can see the model is setting on a table. Thanks for the complement!!

Hi rc74,

You are correct is saying they won't hold up under any side force. I have learned to stop the plane before I make any corrections to turn it under any speed. Sure is a lot better than tearing out the mount and rebuilding them......
