Well, I finally got my TF 1/5 scale P-51C "Dody" finished. Have 58 flights on her now. Flies great. Discovered it is much easier to land without bouncing by using full flaps. I probably have her a little nose heavy. Fliers at the Mattoon flying field can't believe how much I can slow her down without tip stalling. In fact, when I do a spin she will not drop a wing unless I force it. She just goes into a fully controllable mush. Received "Best of Show" at the "Warbirds Over the Corn" fly-in in Mattoon, IL.
Took her to the Mint Julep scale meet in Rosewood IN (by Louisville KY). Ended up in 3rd place in the Expert Division only 6 points out of 1st with 200 points being max score possible. Qualified for the US Scale Masters Championship contest in Sep.
Here's a video that Lynn Elston took with his smart phone on a flight at "Warbirds Over the Corn" in Mattoon, IL.

I love it too......Until I saw the wing fly off one at Warbird Over Delaware. That got me thinking.

Thanks Chris. I am very pleased with my TF P-51C. It is a great flying airplane. Did you notice the youtube video link in my last post. Was at the "Warbirds Over the Corn" in Mattoon, IL. Did a lot of low level flying in the video. I didn't know Lynn was taking the video.

Greetings, and great looking planes. Here is a rescued Miss America, waiting on exhaust and retracts, and to finish the tail, and add the electronics...

Fresh out of a box with still sealed bags. I am happy with the results so far, going slow and sorting out details before mixing epoxy.

Nice, however, I don't think the prop on that Saito will work, Make sure it is not an Electric prop or it will snap. That looks like a 100 GK. Use a MAS 14x8 or 14x10 with that motor, plane will fly great with that setup. My 100 GK loves the mas 14x8 purrs like a kitten and roars like a lion, and will idle down to 400 rpm. I will need to video that when I get my plane back together.

It putts along for up to a minute after I hit the kill switch. Eventually the GP cools down enough for it to stop.

Where can I get the best pneumatic tube connections that do not leak?
Brand? Material? Cost?

Thank you. That prop is a 14 x 8 Evolution for gas/glow, I personally have never had one fail. it isn't designed for electrics, as far as I know...which typically isn't very far. Can't wait to fly it, Keleo exhaust is on order. Sounds like the 14 x 8 with the 100 is what I'm looking for. Which pitch flew it faster for you, the 8 or the 10?

These are the air connectors I use. You can use Robart if you want to pay 5 times as much.

OK, from the angle looked like an E type prop. I never had a chance to try it with the 10 pitch, but it flew pretty good with the 8, although the engine is still fairly new so I baby it for the first gallon. I just need to remember to NOT yank on the stick when doing a go around like I do with the other planes, that will prevent it from snapping onto a dive.

I you like plastic, I have used these CJM 1403's for years, never a leak, never had one come apart, very light weight.

Default ISO P-51D Nose Art "Miss America" Hangar 9

Evening,

My H9 Miss America is nearing completion and I am looking for a high-rez, straight on square shot of the "Miss America" script for the nose. I'd like to make a vinyl sticker as the sticker sheet was not in the box. Image search hasn't been super helpful, any help is appreciated if you have one.

Thanks.
