Hi Scott it will be just under 1/4 scale for transport purposes. 150" span. I have two 3w150R2’s for power. Hopefully we can get them up together sometime.

Lucky for me I like planking, (I know I’m not right in the head) just the center pod left to plank and that should go quickly once I have my flap setup finalized.

I have exchanged a few emails with James at JB Hobbies and he expects to have one of the new P-38s at the AMA show. It looks doubtful that he will have any there to sell, but I am making the trip anyway. It would be nice to save shipping if he has them.

Fvdriver ... Been away a while. Still on a quest to find a P38. So, what size is the one James is going to release? I gues I should scroll back to see if any details. Yellow has discontinued theirs. vQ has as well for what I can tell. Zirolli seem to be my only option at this point.

Here's a picture of the spinners I made for my Robart P-38 with DA-50's. i plan to make one more set for static. the motors turn inboard to lessen the critical engine effect.

Thunderboat42 go to the JB Hobbies web site he has a lot of info. He is going to have 15.9" 3-blade variable pitch props (forward and reverse) in the spring. With the 470KV motor we should be able to fine tune pitch for best flight.

Thanks guys... Found it! I am targeting YS power and it will turn the props perfectly. Just not sure if the YS can be made to run in reverse cw rotation. Ziroli with Kolm 65's are still on the list but that is a long build and this fills the void perfectly. B

The only thing that has even been worked on is the primer and application of the flight metal on 90% of the plane. Nothing else was installed. Very disheartening as I have been lied to for a year on the progress of the build. I was very hopeful with David because he came with a reference from David Gates. However, Collins was untruthful in build progress and then started stalling when he was 6 month past his delivery date. When I forced him to be present as I paid for a shipping company to pick up the model, I now know why. NOTHING WAS DONE. This after he claimed for months that the plane was finished and that I needed to pay him.

Let me preface all this with the fact that I was very generous, patient, and kind in my dealings with David.

Keep in mind all this after I paid pretty handsomely for him to build. He held it hostage until I paid him the final installment, then in my attempts to collect on the money for the build, he is pretty quiet about leaving me high and dry. Anyways, this will probably result in some internet fraud as I originally contacted him throughout his website. Just a quick heads up to anyone and everyone to NOT TRUST THIS GUY. I informed David gates of all this and that I advise him of never referencing David Collins to anyone ever again.

I have loads of emails and communication that prove all the dishonesty and fraudulent behavior.

Anyways, to make a long story short, my loss is someone else's gain. The model is already crated and ready. I have a list of everything included. Here is the posting. Let me know if anyone is interested. http://www.rcuniverse.com/market/ite...890&electric=0

Thanks for looking and please help spread the word on David Collins so this does not happen to anyone else.
Hi tuchadwick59. I was supposed to have David Collins build me a plane as well. I think I was in line after your P-38 because he kept mentioning it. At first he told me he'll start on it right after he finished your P-38 and required a deposit of $700. He kept on delaying and then finally said he was working on it and required another $700 for materials. I also sent him a few hundred dollars in Eagle Tree equipment. He kept stalling but eventually sent me pictures of the wings. He told me I'd have the plane by last summer. Then he stopped responding to emails and phone calls. I've hired a lawyer to get my money back and he should be recieving a letter in the mail soon. It'll probably cost me more to bring him to court than it's worth but I'm tired of guys like this getting away with fraud because it's not worth going after them.

Terry got to see the flight on RC Warbird Flyers on Face book. Super flight!!!

Guys on the build service... Whenever I have built a plane for someone I never have asked for payment until delivered and inspected. Granted I haven't done it for a living or any of that.... I did it for the enjoyment of getting to build something. Of course is never shipped it either. It would either be delivered or picked up. I would rather take a loss than have someone unhappy with me.. Haven't done it it years with all the ARFs out there now and the best ones were someone who was close enough to participate and learn. Sorry for your loss. An attorney will make a statement and you will win. Preventing from happening again by making known will speak volumes.

Sorry to hear that! Hope you can get something back...dirtbags

Finally got the Yellow P-38 into primer, so I started looking at pictures again to pick a scheme. Ran across a color Moonlight Cock Tail photo, it's actually on Wikipedia now . This one looks like the plane has a few flights on it, and note name on cowl

Talked to James at JB Hobbies and I am picking up my silver P-38 at AMA next weekend. The retracts are not in yet but everything else is ready. I will post photos and build when I get going on it.

Have been picking away at my Yellow rebuild, and started fitting cockpit kit. Curious if anyone knows of offerings for radio rack equipment and/or battery that fits behind pilot. Also looking for cockpit nomenclature placards, or clear, straight on views that can be printed to make decals.

Thinking other 1/6 scale warbirds might be pretty close

Thanks!

Thanks Terry
I'm using the DB kit. Might just make the new shelf, and the framing under the equipment for now. I'll give iflytalies a call, or just see them at the Wram show. If not, couple ABS boxes and some wires

Mike,

Currently building my 5th and 6th P-38's. Looking for scale, counter-rotating, 22 X 10, 3-blade props for a DA50 powered YA P-38 project. Any ideas where to look?

Would love to be the newest member of the brotherhood!

Hey fellas, I was wondering if I could get some help. My Legend Models P-38 arrives this week and I'm anxious to find where I could get scale struts/wheels for it. I want it to look as scale as possible not unlike many of your YA and Ziroli P-38's do (someday!). The struts and tires that are offered are bland and definitely not scale. Any help is greatly appreciated!
