The handles on the yokes are made from bass wood, and the engines are 3W150 inlines. I'll try to post some more pics as I make more progress. trying to get My CNC lathe up and running so I can make some spinner and gear parts. to large for my small manual lathe. Hoping to get to the point in a few weeks were I can run the engines up and test out the exhaust system.

Here's something for the "brotherhood" to enjoy.
Picked this up for less than I could assemble the individual parts for.
It's a Legend Models '38 with 2x RCGF 15CC gas two strokes. Not my choice of engine but since they were already installed, what the heck. Test flight was performed with 3 blade master airscrew 14x7 props.
I was not comfortable with the engines on my first flight and forced a landing situation in which I got too slow at 2 foot off the ground and ended up having to do some repairs to the right wing and left boom.
The following images and video are from the flights performed after the repair work.
The engines are gaining my confidence and the 4th flight last Sunday was performed with APC 14x8 two blades and the overall performance was MUCH improved.
The plane accelerates faster and flies with a higher top speed than seen in the video.
I am slowly changing out the servos, as the original builder opted for hobby king servos that seem a bit sketchy in their operation.

Mike,
Just came back from the AMA Convention in Ontario, Ca. with a G&P 88" P-38 partially built for $40.00!....It's all there!
My partner just finished a Robart P-38 for a customer and we couldn't believe our luck.....This one will be electric to save weight..........

Ok guys i come across this site and spent the 50 bucks to join for a year. awesome site not just the P-38 but other planes too but there are over 22k of factory drawings from microfilm on this site just for the P-38 but its like 50 bucks for a year which is cheap considering they have factory drawings for like 10 is american air corps fighters then theres the bombers and hughes aircraft etc http://aircorpslibrary.com/

Welcome guys!
Please feel free to post all the pix and videos you want.
Great looking VQ Tommy_gun
Can't beat $40 for a P-38 Jazzdrmr!
Aeroastro congrats on finishing up a Ziroli build.
ProfLooney, I too want to build a Ziroli size plane, but want to tweek it to look more scale. My plan is to build a plug from foam, glass it, detail it, and make molds. The Yellow P-38 is about as big as I can get in and out of my basement by myself. A Ziroli will need to come apart to stay manageable (for me). Thinking glass booms and gondola, with (maybe) foam core wings and stab that all "plug In". Not sure, in the early thinking about it stage, but I know I like glass and foam planes
There seems to be a bunch of cutaway drawings, some pretty good scale drawings with stations and former shapes, and a few plans. Honestly, you can't bet the factory drawings if you want to get it right. Nice fine!
I hope you will keep us posted on your progress, and if that site has the views RCs need.

there are 22k drawings for the P-38 and the structural maint has all the views we need I am going through it and pulling pics off it. when I get them all from there i will zip up a file. mine will be a 1/4 scale but wont be hard to scale down and I will be doing a J-LO model with the dive flaps etc.here is where min is at now but will prob redo the wing once i find out what the proper washout etc sb. I think on this i used the normal ratio of zero the tip out from the incidence which if I remember is around 3 1/2 deg its been over a year since i worked on it wanting to find factoryt drawings. on the drawings it shows the pod at parellell to horizontal plane and the booms at a negative incidence to it just have to study them later after I get everything
