Cool 170" Constellation build

I just purchased 170" Constellation from Easytiger model, I was going to scrach this model originaly from Don Smith plans, that is only 135", I found this model not quite big enough,I do not build ARFs' but I could not resist this one. Then my friend send me clip of one on You Tube and I was hooked. This is MONSTER airplane, You better have a full size van or 8' box on your truck,to transport it.I have a field in my back yard, so I am O.K. Check this out: http://www.modelairplanenews.com/blo...rce=MagnetMail As for model: It is good quality ARF, I guess that what it is, still going to have to do some changes,It Does have scale hinging, Iam suprised, it is full of rivets, I would say not quite to scale, found tail section ( rudders ) some heavier than I would build, plug in wing tips, some on heavier side too, fuse comes in two sections,Takes 30 to 50cc engines,I found cowlings not quite big enough to go to 50cc engines, I have some G38s that may do the trick. Carburator will be out the side.Have to make my own mufflers. As for retracs, I have some Robart kicking around here that I can modify to fit.As per weight, suppose to be 85lb flying weight,I will keep you post it on rest. Happy building. Jerry

I have one of these in the shop. Going to be a long term project but I did just receive the Robart retracts and wheels. Couple of things I do not like are; the composite control surfaces as they are very heavy, the in the mold panel lines are nice but they ruined them by having the raised rivet detail right on top of the panel lines. Would be interested to know if anyone has actually completed one of these here in the states. Looks like I will need to certify under AMA LMA2 guidelines. Just the fiberglass airframe parts and Robart retracts and wheels weigh 65 pounds.

I dd finaly finished the model. Ready to test fly it in the spring of 2017, after 6 years of rebuilding the whole kit, I dont' know if this was worth it,only thing I did not touch was center section and fuse, every flying surface like complete tail section, flaps, wing tips, naceles, even all incidences on this model are out.I have reduce tail weight 6-8lb. All I can say it is a nightmare, hopefully it was worth it.
