You're right that the a6m5's and up all had the exhaust pipes sticking out of the cowl, so I know that the Top Flite Zero has to be a 2 or a 3, leaning more twords the 3, and if not, well mine is now. Going to apply the decails after work and get right to adding the basic panel lines to the wings.

Nothing was available to buy that duplicated the exhaust pipes perfectly and I found it to be way too difficult to make them myself. So converting the plane into a older model seemed to be the logical solution for me.

That was a good call, shes beautiful! I bet it looks amazing in the air. How long did it take to weather?

Thank you very much. Actually it hasn't flown yet I've been working on it for the past five years and it's finally to the point where it's getting close to fly. I am planning on taking it to the giant scale airshow in Atwater on the 22nd. In total the weathering probably took about a week to do. That's a really good servo. I have that and all the flight controls except for the Rudder. I can't remember what I used but it is a expensive JR metal gear digital. I use that one because the steering is also on that servo.

Its no problem for me to help others out. I hope your second flight goes better than the first. I might start working on mine soon and get this thing in the air in june sometime.

I talked with Hobby Services about the flight characteristics of my Zero.The only useful info that I got is 2 degrees right and 2 down thrust is supposed to be built in. Mine has less than 1 degree down.I added washers behind the upper stand-offs to get 2 degrees down. I plan to fly it on Thursday if weather permits. I will post pics and report on flight after completion. OVER AND OUT!

Hello All!
First time post on this site. I had a Ziroli Planes 91" Zero I was building in my basement, and over the winter, I had a water line rupture and flood my basement and it ruined the plane. I was looking at the TF Zero, but noticed it uses different retracts. I have the Ziroli Robart 145 series and I don't think they will work with this kit. Never had them installed, and they cost a bunch of money.... Would love to know if they can be adapted to work. I have the DLE55RE for power, and all of the servo's etc. Just lost my wood, never got it covered and that was all she wrote! If not a Top Flite Kit, anyone know of an ARF that would use them?

Well I flew the Zero today,four flights and no issues. I did put washers behind the top engine stand offs to increase the down thrust and it solved the excessive trim issue.The Hobby services people said that I should have 2 degrees down thrust and I only had 1 degree.

Awesome, glad it went well for you. I finally got back to building mine. Just finished up the wing yesterday and started building the drop tank. For some reason when I ordered all my stuff I thought the drop tank used a full size servo but it uses a strong micro. I have to order a micro HV servo for it. In the meantime I will start working on the fuselage. I'm still up in the air about building the dynamic balsa cockpit, seems like it would take forever I'm hoping to get this bird flown by the end of the month.

Just got done assembling the tail and setting up in the radio. I am wondering how much free play you guys have in your rudder. I tightened everything as tight as it will go and I probably have about 1/4" either way even with the radio and servos on. Seems excessive but I cant figure out any way to get it any tighter. Thanks

Would a saito 450 radial fit in this one? (I have the glow not the gas 84cc) to be honest I like to place it in the FW109 ...
But I REALLY like this Zero.... TF did a great job...

Mine were pretty close but I wanted them a little bit better. I will post the pics after I get my wheels and tires back from sierra and get the gear set where I want. This is how mine was set, pretty close to 90 degrees but not quite. I had big plans of getting a lot of building done this weekend but haven't touched it yet.
Did you go with this setup per your posted photo in Post #245? The gear in the pic aren't completely vertical like what I think you were posting about. Was that corrected? The other thing I see is the wheels are too big. I think the recommended (incorrectly) Robart wheels are 5". They should be closer to 4" to look right. Those 5" wheel look like monster truck tires! Did you have Sierra make you something smaller?
