This picture is with Sierra gear and what size & brand of wheels/tires?
While on the subject of Sierra Gear, I was told that they make gear specific for the Top Flite Zero ARF; no surprise that I have Emailed Sierra several times to inquire about getting a set and no reply after several attempts!

I had great luck using the "Feedback" tab on his website. Posted a question just this past Sunday and he replied immediately with a response on Monday.
Maybe "When you got it, you got it!"

Could you post a few pics of your wheels installed on the gear? I'd like to see how it fits the fork. I think using a 5" tire is too big, even though that's what Top Flight recommends. Im thinking 4" would fit better and look more scale to boot. Most likely a 4" wheel would perform just fine for you grass field fliers.

Those pics look great with your old camera! However, I wanted to see the wheel and fork head on and how they relate to each other. The shot in post #308 is a little too high angled and the tire blocks the view. Could you take a few more? Thanks for taking those! They show me a great deal about the construction and all. Also, lets see the retract mechanism itself. I'm not very fond of the Robart design and wanted to see how these are different.

A quick Question on Sierra Retracts and Wheels, the gear specific for this bird are cheaper than Robarts Pneumatics which are $470; Darrell quoted me at $450, but in November 2014 they were $425, still cheaper, not as much now, regardless, still better gear than Robarts. Can someone tell me if the DuBro Wheels/Tires mounted on the Sierra Hubs are Lo-Bounce; or are they stiff/hard with little shock absorbing ability?
BTW Bryan; thanks for the tip on contacting Darrell; I used the Feedback link and he returned with an answer the next day!

I think the Dubro tires are pretty "low-bounce" type. I've never seen any Dubro wheels/tires that are rock hard.
On that note, I was looking at Troy Built Models and ARF Pros websites for some of their wheels/tires. The ESM wheels are actually nice! They have a jet-quality build to them and have a removable aluminum rim and very durable tires. And are pretty inexpensive compared to others in the game. They come in several sizes in this class and are also available in 0.5" increments. Might give them a look!

JAYNC:
Did you get this corrected. I went back a few pages and found this photo. This is why your wheels are too thick, They don't fit within the fork in the gear. It requires you to have to shim them out. It appears the wheels just need to be smaller so they fit within the fork opening.

A quick question, if you were going to mount the doors, do you think with your set up i.e. Sierra Gear and Robart Wheels, would the doors mount recessed or flush with the wing; I realize that even if they mount properly, there still is that problem you refer to on grass runways.

I have no idea how I would mount the lower door to the sierras. If I wanted the doors on there for sure I would just get the robarts. I'm sure it can be done on the sierras but not easily.

Just asking.. I'm not asserting anything...
with that much spacer on the axle don't you run the risk of a hard landing bending the axle and locking up a wheel? I've had a similar setup in a P51 where the offset in the axle spelled doom for the motor (violent nose-over)...
