Welcome aboard, f16man... you're #11...
BTW, the F16 is my favorite single engine single turn combat fighter. I read recently that the guy who built the Iron Eagle F16 RC models continues to do amazing things.

DHC6... Welcome aboard! You're #8...
I bought a beautiful Ziroli P-61 twin and after going through the plane for 4 weeks, I went out for taxi tests... The plane was doing exceptionally well when a club mate who will not be named (kinda like Voldemort) kept badgering me about lifting the nose to see how it'll track... After a few "no's" he snuck up behind me and asked me to pull up the nose... the second the nose lifted the plane jumped up and started to wing stall left into the pits... I ran the DA5's up to full power and cleared the pits and the parking lot and flew that big beautiful bird into a tree. I'll post a pic of the before and after soon.

you are! Lucky number 13 goes to a great guy, Captain G
that was a great event... Colonel Thacker was incredible at the dinner... 96 years old and still spry... Best part of that event.. I flew all my planes and came home with the same number of parts.. woot!

I had a beautiful ESM Hellcat. G-38, Sierra retracts. Took off yesterday, gear up 180 degrees to down wind, then total radio failure. It was perfectly trimmed headed east in gradual climb at full power. Last seen as a speck. Had 15 minutes of fuel at full power. Had a Hobby King Orange Futaba comparable receiver. I'm never using one again in a gas powered plane. That was flight number 54 for the plane.

For those who have a H9 Super Cub don't worry about crashing. I have survived two in-flight failures related to servo screws backing out. One on the left flap and the other on the right elevator. Last failure occurred when the throttle linkage disconnected on landing and the plane took off by itself.

Sparky, never seen or heard from again. I may have seen the speck start to spiral down, steeply. It was so far away it was hard to tell. I'm sure it ended badly and it didn't make a nice landing in a vacant field. Some of the guys at the club with FPV drones will be doing arial recon of the suspected area. if they can find it, maybe some parts are salvageable. I guess this is alway a risk in this hobby. It could have been and probably was the receiver, or switch or battery even though it was new and fully charged. The only way to guard against it is dual high quality receivers (not Hobby King), dual batteries and dual switches. On a larger plane that might be feasible, but on the smaller ones, 120 size and down, adds too much weight. Never happened to me before. Of course had to happen with a nice warbird, and not one of my old beaters.

RBean, I had an ESM BF110 that I loved and had a radio glitch..
I used to use AirTronics and installed a new 10Channel rcvr in that plane for my SD10G radio... 2 perfect flights that morning... on the third flight after takeoff and trim lap, the plane past me and I lost radio contact... no control... the throttles were still at half throttle and the plane was on a slitght up angle at about 75MPH... climbed to 400 feet and came back at a 45 degree angle into the parking lot behind the flightline at over 100MPH. Shrapnel from the crash hit 3 cars and did $4000 in damage... No one was hurt (thank my lucky stars!). AMA took care of 3 cars that were hit (only cost me $250 deductible).
Post crash I still had 1800 MAh in the 2 2200Mah Life batteries plugged into the smartfly power board... It was a radio glitch of some sort. I still have my RDS8000 for foamies, etc, but now I fly a Futaba 14SG on all my big stuff.
