interestingly... I've always thinned with Acetone... They say it damages the resin... to be perfectly honest, for me... not enough to worry about... I will continue to thin it...
They sell itty bitty packets of their resin of course.. but I'm not totally convinced yet.. $3 a packet and they say you can do an entire wing with it.. next month I'm going to try and invite myself to a "wing" party at the guys house... I'll know more then!

Hi my fellow Brothers and Sister
This last weekend a few of us got together and took to the sky's at the Gunsmoke ScaleMasters qualifier here in the Great Phoenix area. We had 3 representatives not least of which was the Commander in Chief himself. Frank's work on his flying this last year was rewarded in his scoring, he took a First Place in the ProAm Sportsman class. The winds were furious and he soared his Fw190 around like, well I have to be honest here, he soared that thing around like it was a scared rabbit! With 20 mph winds with stronger gusts and he had the FW dodging Cactus, Mesquite trees, bushes and grass like they were not there! X cross wind 90 degrees, no problem the Fw Climbed back up to runway level and landed like there was no wind and taxied back to the pits to have the desert FOD cleaned off, rearmed and fueled up! I think the last time he saw my "hairdryer" Spitfire it must have scared him and his Fw. Speaking of the Spit I got some parts from my good friend Chad Veich to dress up my hairdryer, damn meant Spitfire cockpit. The 8.99 H9 Pilot looks like well a 5.99 pilot and was not permanently glued to the plane, the rest however looks a bit better. In addition to my Spit, Cole had his there also and maybe it was the 2 Spitfires that had the FW flying so low! :-)

Helloooo fellow bashers,
Sorry for being gone so long... AZThud is right... our group represented well at this years GunSmoke U.S. Scale Master qualifier @ Superstition RC Air Park in Apache Junction, AZ.
I arrived onsite late Thursday night for the only day that wasn't windy... I got two flights in that afternoon to get the willies out of my thumbs... Friday opened with a flight where the wind pushed my tail around and I rolled into a fence which broke the leading edge on both wings while static judging was going on... A couple hours with some glue, some MonoKote, and an iron and the Wulf was ready for the air again.
We flew two rounds on Saturday in windy conditions and two rounds on Sunday with a little less gusts... A lot of planes took a mulligan or scratched due to the wind... The three Hangar 9 Spits on the flight line all suffered but I was amazed at Rick's prowess this weekend.. He flew exceedingly well... Cole Thornton also did well with a plane that had several issues with the spinner and prop.. He even shorted one flight into the bushes on Friday that only resulted in a broken wheel pant.

the weather got me in round 1 but after that I got the spit in the air every time and nailed the landings..what a great airplane.
The biggest thing I would like to bring to everyone's attention is that the Blues Brothers all brought home wood. I took 3rd in pro am pro, my dad took 3rd in advanced, tim cardin took top static, Frank took 1st in sportsman, and Mike hatfeild won team...what a great time flying airplanes with my friends...hope to make the masters this year!!

Hey guys.. I hope all of you are well!
Yesterday marked the 300th and 301st flight of my TF GS FW190... This plane is without a doubt my favorite plane ever... it looks good in the air and is a thrill everytime I fly it...
Today I flew her 5 more times so I'm up to 306 now...
I think I'm going to peel the wing, glass, and paint it soon as I have rubbed the wingtips raw with bad landings the last two days (there are a lot of soft spots all over both sides). She deserves a little love after 2 years putting up with me...lol

I just scored a C. A. P. P-47 Kit partially assembled (a long time ago), in an estate sale. I have the plans, although they are a bit fragile. The fuse is built and sheeted. The wing is built, but not sheeted. I am missing the control surfaces in the built up parts. It has Wing lead-screw retracts with shock absorbing gear legs, and a nice glass cowl. Also a retracting tail wheel gear, and nice pilot figure. Pictures to follow.
I plan to complete this model and fly it with a Saito 120 FS. Is this too much engine? I have a Saito .56 and a Saito 1.00, and a YS 120, but the 1.00 and YS 1.20 are in other planes right now. I would rather use a 4 stroke, but I also have Several .61s, including a Kraft K61, and a Merco .61. I also have a Super Tigre .90 and an ASP 1.09. I would appreciate any inputs on both the plane and engine recommendations.
If anyone has a rolled set of plans of this for sale, or to borrow to make a copy from, please let me know.
I am very encouraged that this plane is known to build and fly well. I thank you in advance for your comments and look forward to additional information.
My I please join your Brotherhood, Thank you.

Good Thursday, brethren... I'm very happy to let you know that our group continues to expand... Keith, whom I saw this past weekend in AZ @ the OEAF SpringFlyIn wants to join... He was gracious enough to bring a motor (DA50) to DA for me so he's automatically a member.. lol. Keith's a great guy and we're lucky to have him onboard.
And Richard in Guilford, CT also wants to join our motley crew... I'm looking forward to hearing about some of his bashing sessions.
Welcome aboard, gents.. (don't feed the inmates)

Hey Brethren... I hope all are well and flying! Just a heads up... I scored second in ProAm-Pro last weekend in Hemet, CA - US Scale Masters Qualifier behind Mr. Don Rice. Don brought his serious game and flew incredibly... There were a lot of "10's" on one of the score sheets he showed me... Great P-47 with lots o detail!
Also, I'm getting ready for my trip to Florida as I've been invited to fly at this years Top Gun invitational... Its 2501 miles from my door to the flightline and yes.. I'm driving solo! I hope to represent us well... I'll be flying the captured P-47 and hope to do well enough not to embarrass us - lol!!!
