Please sign me up. I have a Jack Stafford P-63 kit that is on my building bucket list. A long time ago I built Tony Bonnetti's semi-scale pattern ship based on the P-39.
Here is a link to some info on that plus a P-39 full-scale video.

I have the ESM P-39 with a DLE-30 up front. Had her out today for several "classic" flights.

It is, but when I started the thread I forgot to state that in the title. I went back to edit the thread name to say All Airacobras welcome, but it would not allow me to edit.

Sorry, Just saw the thread link. Thanks for posting.

Can you sign me up. I have a TF Gold Edition 39 framed waiting for glass cloth and paint. Put it on hold because I decided I needed an everyday sport flier to replace my aging Kaos. So what I am building as an everyday sport plane - is an old red box 39 from plans and templates I made years ago. This one will be simple with fixed gear and upright 60 but with foam core wings and aileron servos out in the wings - no bellcranks this time. Paint scheme for both has yet to decided so would love to see pictures of others to get some ideas flowing.

Please sign me up!

As you can see from my RCU Call-sign and avatar, the P-39 is my favorite. My very first P-39 I kit-bashed from a Bridi Vagabond; and the second was my own design modified from Wing Mfg. plans. It was with this model I began scale warbird racing; and was the Bronze High-points Champion for 3 of my first four years racing (2004 - 2007).

After retiring that plane, I have since designed my own 1/8th scale model from Paul Matt scale drawings; made a plug, mold, and 3 composite fuses, all for the purpose of racing in the Silver class of our series of warbird races here in Sacramento. Should anyone have an interest, I posted a build-thread of the last one (as well as a composite P-47 & P-51), in the Scale Racing forum, here on RCU:

http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/scal...ity-build.html

And, prior to that, part of the process of the plug and mold build was posted in the "P-39 Anything" thread that TLH101 posted the list to just a few posts before (post #30).

Two of the three composite aircraft are pictured below.

Thanks in-advance.

Please add me. I've built 2 of the red box P-39's and have a gold edition kit that I bought when it first came out. I built the first red box kit when I was 9 yrs old. I got the kit from Tower Hobbies shortly after they opened up the the 70's. I didn't get to fly it until the late 80's.

Sign me up. I have a Top Flite P-39 and a VQ P-39. Maybe joining the brotherhood will motivate me to get at least one of them out of the box and put it together!

I am getting ready to start building the fuse for my TF P-39 kit and before I start I need to think how the motor is going to fit in the nose. I have an RCV 90SP that I would like to use so that I don't have to hack the nose too much and to get a nice looking finished product. The RCV 90SP fits tight inside the nose leaving room for hardly anything else. The RCV 90SP factory muffler is like any other 4 stroke engine muffler of that size and will not fit in the nose unless I make an unpleasantly big hole on the skin, which I don't want to do. I'm looking for ideas on how to get around this problem. So far I looked on youtube at how to make an exhaust silencer from scratch but haven't found much on the topic. Also a website (Keleo Creations. . .) offers a readily available muffler but the way it is configured it's not appropriate for the P-39 (because of the retractable front landing gear). Has anyone in the p-39 brotherhood ever fiddled with this issue before me? Any ideas will be greatly appreciated, Thanks.

The Red Boxed kit is older. I think TF made some changes in the design from the red box to the one I'm building. I couldn't tell you what the differences are though. Perhaps some of the other guys in the brotherhood know what the differences are. Sorry I couldn't be of much help.

RZ, thank you for the quick reply. as for your needed gas muffler to your rcv90, have you tried looking up a custom muf from "Bold" mufflers.
his info is: email address: [email protected] or call phone: 772-344-8785 don
