The EVO motor is what they used in the catalog photos on HH site and looks MUCH better.

Type Kolm IL 100 into your search box, click images and you'll find an image that lists the major dimensions. The length of the short engine(250+mm) is about 1.5" behind the firewall of the TF ARF so would require a major modification to this plane. I would not do it to an arf as the adhesive strength of this brand is totally inadequate for motors larger than 40cc. I have experienced many structural failures due to design and factory construction of this arf. And some of them resulted in the total loss of the entire investment in airframe and equipment, others I discovered during preflight insp. and was able to do preventive repairs that worked.
I haven't seen the H9 P 51 yet so I can make no suggestions as to potential modifications. Remember that the Brand names that bring these planes to market have them engineered to the lightest structure that the smallest recommended engine can safely get in the air. Just watch a US 41 struggle when you point the nose higher than 20-30 degrees and you'll understand why most warbird pilots opt for bigger engines. If you want to bolt HP to the firewall you need to reinforce an ARF or better, build a kit using better adhesives. My first TF P 51 ARF suffered almost complete disassembly of the right wing panel on a grease-it-in landing(no.10 since new), caused by the absence of any glue from the inside ldg. gear mount out to the tip rib. The sheeting was not glued to the ribs and the gear mounts were glued to the sheeting but not to the ribs supporting them. Go to the TF forums and you can find these complaints listed by others and the necessary repairs are detailed.
I can only hope that Hanger Nine takes note of their competitors poor reputation for an excellent flying plane that falls apart in flight.
I will buy the new H 9 P 51 any way because I know how to detect faulty construction.(I was an Aircraft Technical Inspector at one point in my military tour of duty). I hope I have made this easier for you to decide.
Steve.

NO they have not ........or least that's what Horizon Hobby says. I spoke with one of the customer service boys just last week. Mid to late July is still the target date. I've had one on order with my LHS since I very first even heard about them. He had already ordered two. I get one of them........However the above pics look real interesting.

Dag gone that thing is cool!!!!! I just wish it would have had the engine they are touting as being built around in it. Better yet, this thing needs a engine that has a growl to it like a KOLM, but at a price a normal guy can afford. I hope it's around for a while.... times are a little tough right now.

My first impression, it flys like my old Satio 100 powered Miss America, smooth, stable, and predictable. The stock retracts on the Miss A wobbled terribly side to side, not this baby, the E-Flite retracts are rock solid. Landing is as easy as any large sport plane with the flaps. I did have one surprise, the flaps required no elevator compensation. Slowed to 2 seconds they look great and are very effective.
The 62 ZP popped in a few flips and was running w/o touching the needles in a few more, though it needs almost half throttle to get running while flipping, but thats not even two full tanks through. Idle is great.
DX-18QQ/ AR 1220 power safe DSMX rx with 12 channels in use (4 wings, 2 ele, 1 rud, 1 thro, 1 landing gear, 1 optical kill, 1 light kit, and 1 channel for 2 daisy chained E-Flite servoless payload drops for the drop tanks)
Falcon 22x10 beechwood with the optional aluminum spinner, fit w/o any cutting.
Landing gear are uber cool. Gear doors and gear all plug into the gear box which has a plug-in programming box like the heli flybarless controllers. The machined wheels are fantastic, Goodyear scale tires and all. Pricey but ohhh my....they are sweet.
Look for the exclusive review in Fly RC Magazine

Andy, what servos did you use for the gear doors? I'm trying to understand why you would need 240oz retract servos for the wheel cover doors. If I decide to bite on this one, and I most likely will it will be my first venture into giant scale warbirds. Is there a link to your review and will it be published soon?

The equipment I used was right out of Horizon Hobby's completion and optional equipment list.
My best guess as I didn't spec them, is that they need to be able to haul those fairly large doors up and down and keep them put under the air load..
I'm not sure if they will use it on the web site or just in print though I'll do what I can to make sure it gets to the web site, the review will be in the Fly RC Magazine that will be out in 3 or 4 weeks.
I dont have the patience to resize and upload photo's here and I can't link to Giants so here's a public link to my Facebook album that has several flight shots towards the end.....
