One of your pilots forgets to bolt on the wings before flying at a public demo?

Yikes!

I actually did this once, but fortunately survived to fly again!

Cheers

Mac lost one of the earlier B-29 models to the same fate, someone was jabbering in his ear while he was assembling his plane. Being too nice a guy to chase them away he got out of his routine.

It happens.

So here's the scoop: when the P-51s arrived, we weren't happy with the quality of the product. It's going to take some time to get this resolved, and we don't have a final timetable right now. My thinking, and this is only a guess, is this will take a few months to get it on the market.

I'm sorry to report this, but I know you're all wondering what's going on.

The next question will be, "So what was the issue?" I'm afraid that question will go unanswered. No matter what it was, if we called it out then that part of the airplane would receive intense scrutiny from customers. No matter how well the issue was addressed, some would proclaim, "They didn't really fix the issue!" and would try to cast doubt on the airplane. The important thing is, whatever it was, we're fixing it.

THANKS DAVID for your reply
The reason i mentioned is that the whole shipment that the ozzy dist got can not be sold.i found that out when i went in to pick mine up[.Source is via email from Mick McConville] Hopefully we can figure out what the issue is so these kits dont go to waist.

I just thought I,d check in to see how the H9 P-51 was working out for everyone and saw Dave,s post above.

Good for Horizon on insisting on good quality control with the supplier.
Also kudos for coming onto the forums to explain things for everyone.
Hopefully they will be ready to go for next spring.

Dave

That did not stop the aussie distributer selling sub standard early production 150 size P-47 Razorbacks that Horizon reported here on RCU that had been destroyed rather than sold with some problems. How do I know this? I bought one! Keep an eye out & no doubt these models will turn up somewhere ( It won't be through the aussie dist's own retail outlet. Profit must be good on selling a product you did not have to pay for!?!?!?!? ).

I did see this plane at the Warbirds Over The Rockies. It flew great ! I must say that the D.A. 60cc engine flew that plane really well! Yes I said DA. The evo engine can't run well at 5280 ft above sea level. I spoke with the demo pilot who was a great Pilot. I mean really great. Rolling circles slow low rolls down the runway this dude was very good! I will have one of the H-9 Mustangs!

LOL,

Yes, that's a rule. The real (unwritten) rule is that politics is fine as long as it leans toward the sentiments of the masses and the mods. Think I'm wrong? Make a political crack that's 'left of center' and see how fast you get moderated!

Facts are facts no matter where they are posted, and how offended left of center people get.

No,

"Facts" are usually just the opinion of the spouter. Usually that person wouldn't know a fact if it walked up and gave him a tittie-twister.

LOL,

Thanks for proving my point. The guy with the ignorant political comment (in spite of RCU's supposed rules) doesn't need to 'take it somewhere else'. The guy who points out that the mods don't care as long as they agree.... he needs to take it someplace else. Hypocrite much?

Politics can go elsewhere as well.

This thread is about the Mustang, how about we keep it there eh?

Hi,

Really? Not to me. This one looks a lot more scale, but it also looks like you could build two TF by the time you're done with the sliding canopy setup on this one. I read through the manual to get a feel for the assembly. Once again I'm impressed with the lines and appointments, but it seems like a lot of work and cost to still end up with a warbird in iron-on covering. I really wish these mfgrs would regularly offer an ARC version at the same time of release. No offense to the Chinese folks putting these together, but when I fixed the covering on some recent TF ARF's, I got the impression that whoever covered them wasn't exactly a dedicated modeler who took pride and pleasure in a good covering job. The guy who taught me how to cover could take Ultracote around the smallest complex curves without a hint of wrinkle. I was never that good, but if I had to settle for a warbird with iron-on covering, I'd rather do it myself.

I would agree with Yellow regarding the ARC version. As a matter if fact I asked hangar 9 that very question and they said it was not in the plan to offer an ARC version. BTW, regarding the P-51, the website says it requires 9 channels, what is the 9th channel for?

4 servos in the wings
3 on the tail
Gear
Throttle

in addition mine has an optical kill and the drop tank releases.

I suppose if you're careful with mechanical setup and use Y harnesses or matchboxes you could do the ailerons, flaps, and or elevators with matchboxes to reduce the required channels.

Sorry the website says 8+ channels. So that would be 3 ch in the wing (flaps, ailer, and gear). 2 ch in the tail (elev and rudder). And 1 ch for the throttle. That's a total of 6 ch. Drop tanks would bring it to 7 ch. I don't see the 8 th channel.....
