My stab fairings match up better than the pictures here. The covering is just plain TERRIBLE and yes.....just like all aluminum covering there are differences in color between different rolls.
I spoke to my friend and he is willing to let me come over and take photos and dry fit his Aeroworks P-51B to get started on a comparison thread that I think that I am going to do. We also both have TF P-51's NIB so we can do a 3 plane comparison. I need to finish a Great Planes Citabria and he needs to finish an Aeroworks 30cc Ultimate then we can get the photos taken. Maybe I can get started on this next week.

A composite fuse would have been a better choice here. The fairings and curves will always be a maintenance factor on sunny days. At warbird flyins, these planes are definitely going to stick out as the new H9 60cc bird, good and bad. I'm still an advocate for this plane. Just needs a little more time IMO.... Anyone have any build Picts?

Hi,
I'm hoping to be an advocate. As of now, I'm a little sour on the QC issues. Between the covering, ill-fit of parts and spinner issue, it feels a bit like a bait-n-switch.

Hi,
No open bays. No spinner, either. That's an optional item. I got confused with TF. I guess I'll go order that now. The gear are very nice. They fit in perfectly and operate in a very scale-like manner. The flaps are split in the middle and they fit much better on one side than the other. Looks like they actually used epoxy on some of the wood-to-wood joints (ahem, TF...)

How about just get a Comp Arf stang? By the time it would take to scale this thing out, you could have a very scale and quality jewel for about the difference in price if you add your time into it. If H9 can resolve some QC issues, I think it will be worth the price for a balsa build up bird. Always wanted a Carf Stang but couldn't see spending the cash, close to $8k. Was hoping the the H9 arf would be a good median between the Top Flight and the Carf... Maybe it's time to look at Rocco's Aeroworks bird or take my Nosen back to the drawing board and re engineer it's shortcomings.... But Ill probably just shut up and build this ARF and beat on it. Who knows, it may be my fav.

DA 60 fits and flys this bird really well. Saw this fly at WOTR this year. Here is a video....no install photos though.

The cowl was cut for the muffler....looked about like a TF P51 with a rap-around pitts style muffler installed. The cowl needed to be cut about the same. DLE 55RA is looking like a good choice of engine.

Hi,
Does anyone know of anyone currently flying one of these on a 55RA? That's what I'm installing. I got the sliding canopy glued and installed. Pretty dang neato. The first canopy (the one that came in the box) was defective, but HH sent me another one and I got it the next morning. The replacement was excellent and it went together very nicely. The magnets that hold it closed are pretty strong. The instructions tell you to stack them up so you get the polarity right, but that didn't work. Once they were all glued on, half of them were backwards. Now that I 'fixed' it, I'm wondering if they should all be the 'correct' way because now they stick so well, it's difficult to open the canopy. I think I'm going to break it! Once the magnets get close, you'd better keep your fingers out of the way or it will pinch you.

Hi,
I know it's premature, but have any of you with experience with this ARF had a chance to examine the gear mounting situation? Just wondering if they're good-to-go as-is. The TF ARF requires a bunch of mods to make the gear not fall out under the trauma of a dirty look. I'm hoping this one is going to stand up to average-to-decent landings over time. If it does, it's worth the price difference right there.

The one we built for the review used the Zenoah ZP62cc as that was what HH sent us. The ZP required quite a bit of cutting of the cowl, but hauled it around with authority, and is a great power match. The Mustang's been collecting dust since not long after we finished the review flights when the second demo went down with the wing failure. HH grounded us until the center section could be sorted... now I'm just waiting for the replacement parts to show up so we can take her out again

I feel the same way Yellow.......I have decided to just put everything back in the boxes and shove them in a corner. I am going to finish a World Models GS Zero and then move on to a TF P-51D ARF that I have. When these are done I will revisit the H9 Mustang if i haven't sold it by then.
