Hi,

Thanks. I guess I was hoping some of the several people who also have this equipment might have gotten their set up already (or that one of the Reps might chime in with some help if they're not sore at me for being honest about my first impressions with this plane early on).

Sorry, I have not gotten to that point in the build yet. I still need to acquire the landing gear and plan to use the recommended eflite gear with my DX18 Transmitter.

Keeping in mind it's been a while, what do you need to know about the gear?

I have my gear and doors all done and working. I had a problem with mine what my problem was I had put the gear in on the wrong side. When the gear is up and wheels on you should see the head of the axle pin. If you done see that your gear is on the wrong side that will cause the gear door links to be way shorter the what is in the instructions.

Hi,

My gear are mounted correctly, that's not the problem. My problem is that once I try to set up the controller, nothing happens with the doors. I've used all of the values in the instructions, and saved it to the controller with the programmer again and again. When I use the 'test' function on the programmer, nothing happens. When I first switch on the radio, the gear door servos (the recommended Spek ones) move, but they don't move when I hit the gear switch. The main doors do nothing. There is power to the servos, but no movement. Did everyone else's programmer/controller work fine the first time?

The unit I used worked like a charm... it sounds like your's needs replaced. Call HH and they'll likely drop one in the mail for you

Hi,

I talked to Tom at HH. They're sending me another controller and programmer to see if that solves the problem. If it doesn't, I've got to take the gear out and send everything in. This is getting tiresome. I've moved onto working on the TF Corsair ARF for now.

Sounds like you are having about as much luck with this junk as I am Yellow. I received my new stab parts today.......box kind of crushed.....sheeting broken again. I am just going to move on also. Maybe revisit next winter. I will just strip the covering on the stabs, fix the broken wood and recover. I have NEVER had this much trouble with an ARF from a company that is supposed to put out quality product.

Starting planning on the assembly and parts for this one. Need a favor. In choosing an engine I have 2 I'm looking at. That said, I need to know the length of the engine mount to spinner backplate and total length from firewall if I shorten the mount ... The engine is 10" long backplate to spinner plate.
I am using Robart electrics on another plane and happy but think I may get the eflight a try in this one.
Radio will either be my DX9 or the Graupner MZ24. Leaning towards the MZ because I can bind 2 receivers easilyalong with other convenient things.

That will help. Looks like the Kolm 65 is going to hve to be one one. The iL 100 will require serious surgery but may be worth it.

ThunderBoat42, the Kolm EZ65 is 175.1mm from engine mount to spinner back plate, serious surgery will be required to fit the EZ65 too!!

Yeah, why length is needed. I seem to always make work for myself .. And... A 4st junkie. YS on smaller stuff ... Expensive but worth it.

Yellow,
Two of us are experiencing the same gear sequencing problem you are. The main gear doors will not work. The two main gears work fine. If we disconnect the battery from the receiver and then reconnect the doors will sequence once and then stop; but then the gear will not work. After that the gear works fine. Also, the test function on the programmer does not work.

Hi to all,
There are two of us putting some H9 Mustangs together in Fort Valley, Georgia. We are experiencing some of the same problems mentioned in this forum. My fuselage came with some damage but I think I can repair it. The gear doors in particular are not working on either plane. The main gears are working but haven't tried the tail wheel unit yet. One mustang will use an Evolution 58 and the other a DLE 55ra. I just installed a light kit. It was easy and works great. I had trouble with the bomb drop release, there is no channel in the wing for the wire leads. The drop mechanism is in front of the wing tube and the exit hole is behind it. No way to route the leads without cutting into the wing (outer panels). Have decided to just use the manual release feature. We'll keep you posted on our progress. I'm wondering if anyone is going to try to put a servo on the sliding canopy?

Somewhere in the back pages of this forum there is a builder that has already done this.....it wasn't with a servo though some sort of electric actuator. Just read through the whole forum.

I have just ordered another set of stabs. When these arrive I would like to sell this ARF and Main and Tail retracts. I would like to get $1200.00 for the combo. If there are any interested parties please IM me. I am done with all Hanger 9 aircraft.

I posted these earlier in the thread too, but here are the pics of my bomb drop install for the FlyRC review... you need heavy thread, a heavy needle, a strong magnet, and some thin piano wire. I think the pics show it pretty well. There is room to route the wires under the wing tube through the opening back to where the other servo leads come out of the wing. Let me know if you have any questions, this worked VERY well for me and was not too much of a pain.

Hi,

Really? Has anyone else contacted HH about this? They seemed very surprised and mystified by all this when I explained it. BTW, mine is doing PRECISELY the same thing yours is.

Johnny Zero: Thanks. I did find the post about the sliding canopy; and found the actuator on line. Seems simple enough. Sorry you are bailing out on the H9 Mustang.

Yellow: Please let me if the new boxes work out. We did call Horizon but got a complete blank on anyone knowledgeable on the retracts....they claimed they have no technical information on the retract system.

ACS-guitars: Thanks for the information. I'll give it a try.

I'm hooked on the H9 Mustang. I have both the TF GS Mustang and the H9 Mustang. The H9 is so much better looking and scale like. I stick with it and get it flying.

Right on!

I'm still in the component (engine, servos's, livery, etc.) selection phase so I'm eager to follow the builds!

Cheers

Is there another retract option? Robart, Sierra etc? Just in case these Eflites do not work out?

Ive seen this before with Customer Service claiming "hmmm, yours is the first we have seen and we have sold many of them" and "no problems have been reported before"
Its just a stone wall to discourage you from persuing getting a refund or replacement. Push thru the BS and ask to speak to a supervisor.
