On the inner door issue of them staying open after you power on the receiver - just toggle the retract switch quickly for gear up then right back to gear down and the doors will close without the gear cycling. I do this after I start the engine and it looks like a full size with the hydraulic pressure building!

RE STABS:

Anyone just epoxy glue one half of the stab tube into one side of either stab? Seems like they over thought this one through .....I am thinking one half gets a glued stab tube and the other half gets the bolt through the tube. (still want it removable to access the servos)

Thoughts?

Anyone have pics of a DLE-55RA install?

I know someone had pics but I searched this thread and can't find it again.....somebody keep pipping in how it will fit no problem ....but he keeps showing a Top Flite ARF kit and not the H9....two different birds!

It looks like I will have to remove some of the firewall to get the muffler to fit...so I need pics!

Also the Bolt pattern does not match up with a DA-50 which I thought it did.....so I need to make my own bolt patter holes on the firewall.

So any pointers from the DLE-55RA crowd? OR should I trade it in on a Evolution 62?

Also anyone know the kit tank size? I am going to replace it with something else....its essentially worthless anyway.

I used the stock muffler. I had t grind some of the firewall and then glassed it for strength. The engine standoffs were shortened but I don't remember how much. Maybe 3/8". MV

The 55RA runs very good in the H9 Mustang. It wasn't that hard to modify the firewall.

JTec fits without firewall grinding, but takes a good long while to get. I think they are made to order, FYI.

I gave up on the DLE-55RA....I refuse to cut and glass the firewall for a damn muffler!

I have a NIB Evolution 62GX from the LHS that took the DLE-55RA in trade....plus a little $$. I guess I have used everything called out in the manual for the plane (100% stock) so we will see if it flies well.

Lets see some 62GX install pics????

I put in a DA 60 and the JTech Muffler. There is about 1/4" clearance from the firewall. The muffler's can is above the firewall. The DA 60 has side exhaust.

My question is: How close to the wood can the muffler be? How close is too close?

Right on! I prolly would've done same if 62GX was available when I discovered I had to wait a month for the JTec and pull my hair out trying to source bloody stand-offs!

Cheers

Just went through all the same frustrations.......oh and the Fuel tank in the kit is junk! At least the 60cc Corsair was pre plumbed....again not surprised at this since the whole kit is a D- minus at best. What is Horizon thinking?

Don't want to bash hh too much. Otherwise they typically drop the model and next thing you know there are no parts available.

I just mounted my DA 50 with 2 1/2" standoffs that gave a 1/16" clearance on the spinner backplate. I am also using a J-tech muffler that will be enclosed without any holes in the bottom cowl.

I think this is the first time in the build that I did not have to make any mod's. It is a challenging ARF. Read the instructions a couple of times and dry fit everything.

Have fun

Steve

HH.....one thing you can say is they do have EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE. Sadly when compared to other ARF's in the line at HH....this one doesn't live up to the others...JMHO. I will still shop with Horizon Hobby (HH) ....but I can tell they must have switched vendors overseas, you can notice the hardware is very cheap and not like the Corsair.

I will be ordering a 2nd Corsair soon. Just wish this Mustang would have "fell together like the other kits" Still considering the 3.1m Sukhoi...already built the Beast 100cc, 60E, Extra 300 100cc, 60cc, Corsair 60cc, etc....

I did hear today about the P3 Biplane recall.....so I think some changes are underway.

62GX users.....you will have to remove some of the engine box to get the muffler to fit. Also I had to remove some of the cowl on the side due to the muffler not clearing the cowl.
