I have heard of putting in your blood, sweat, and tears but with all that red it looks like you did bleed all over the airplane! ;-)

It depends on the model but around 63" or 160 CM Wingspan in 1/7th scale would be the most common. The Spitfire platform was as small as 32 ft 2 inches and as large as 40 Ft 2 inches with 36 ft 10 inches being the most common wingspan used.

Well, based on the Submarine Spitfire Mk XIVe wingspan of 11.23 m (36'-10")
@ 1/7th scale would be 160.383 cm or 63.14" wingspan.

What he said!
Also, I would say that some of the fuse formers would be ply, specifically in the wing saddle area.

P.S. Don't tease me

Hey Phesant75 what is your preferred variant of the Spitfire the Mk XiV? That was what I was thinking but I'm open to any of them. I agree with your idea on some key formers needing to be plywood in addition to the firewall. Would you consider Liteply in those areas as well?

Mike,
I would say the exact variant that Fokke has already drawn, much easier for the designer to alter.
As far as lite ply, in my opinion lite ply has very little structural strength, I would rather laminate pieces of balsa myself rather than use lite ply. If it was me, I would use 3/32" birch 5 ply. The weight gain is very minimal but the strength is way above lite ply.

I learned the weaknesses of lite ply the hard way. I was green and the seller had lite ply dirt cheap, I asked if it could be used for firewalls and he/she said "I do it all the time". I made the purchase, installed a lite ply firewall in homeade cub. One bad landing and the lite ply firewall de-laminated, the motor/prop/esc combo departed the plane. No injuries but a good lesson, lite ply = filler or non-structural use only.

Guys , I think I can do it just for you ))) all balsa, exept the two main fuselage strukture panels and the firewall , and several midle ribs from the wing , 3mm poplar ply , all can be 3mm balsa

I had idea to cut this model in 1/10 , very good size for my plans , but 1/7 also can be done

Wood cowl is fine as I will be running a clean burning electric motor! Any chance of the drawings in dxf. format making it to my email address would be a plus, I can cut pieces on my cnc machine if something doesn't work out.

Master Fokke,
What would the sheeting thickness be for the fuselage?
