Default Finishing touches on a Ziroli SBD 5 Dauntless

Hi all I've decided to share the finishing stages on my Ziroli SBD 5 Dauntless. I've been building the plane for nearly 4 years now ( on and off) I've heard from many people they fly great... I'm looking forward to finding out for myself.

You'll like her, she flied like a trainer. One thing she does well: diving. I slaved the dive brakes to the flaps on the 3 position flap toggle.
Center for flaps, 3rd position then engages dive brakes, reduce engine to idle and hit the down elevator. Makes pull out easy, hit engine throttle and flap toggle at the same time. I also use a mix toggle; if not on, then the dive brakes do not engage so I don't accidentally engage them on landing.

Hope I do, just takes a long time doing all the little things, as I want to have everything done before the plane flys (scale drop tank, dummy radial ) ect.
Have you tried landing yours with flaps and dive break? I see on YouTube a guy lands with both and it comes in at walking pace.
What size prop are you running on your GT-80?

heres a few pics on the installation so far:

I use a 24X10 getting around 6600 rpm's. Can also use a 24X12 (both props mejzlik).
Better keep the throttle up if you use dive brakes on landing. I only use the flaps. Best to keep the engine idle high on landing as those holes in the flaps don't give you as much lift as normal flaps would provide.

I'll be sure to try it, thanks for the information means a lot. I'm at the stage in the build where every little detail takes so much time, hoping to get it finished soon tho!!!

Been back onto the dauntless over the weekend.. Made a start on strengthening the dummy radial. Hoping to get the dummy painted and detailed throughout the week.

Haven't done a great deal of work on the dauntless lately. Still cutting and grinding away at the dummy radial. Half way through fitting pushrods tubes I figured I wouldn't have enough aluminium tube to finish the job.. Will need to get more on Monday.

Been working on the SBD: got the dummy radial coming along..... Set the plane up today and having a few problems with the way the power box turns on, when I turn on switch on the whole plane goes into a spasm (full up elevator full right aileron full right rudder and gear up) but if you turn both switches on quickly at the same time , everything works fine.
Not very assuring for me, does anyone know anything about why this might be doing it?
The power box is by 42 percent 8/16 nickel metal hydride and nicad. Ridding spektrum DX 18 as a radio. With a 9 channel spektrum receiver.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Excellent work! I really enjoyed that video - excellent piloting there as well.
I thought the plane might be too much for the GT-80, but it seems to be fine.

I have same setup at 41 pounds - gt80 stock mufflers drilled out baffles - I was running 24x10 for a while with ok performance - then switched to 22x12 and it is a lot more fun to fly - this engine likes rpm
