Canopy bows are all installed and the gunner bay trimmed up. All but top covering is now on. The fuse side is being glassed with 1 oz. cloth.

Is it one of those canopy that can be made in place and not have to be pull on a mold?

Vindy is progressing nicely. I have the fuse glassed and fabric covered, pinked and doped. I have applied the first coat of lacquer primer to the fuse glassed areas, and am not shaping the foam tail come. Once done, I will glass with 4 oz. cloth.

Getting close to paint. The tail fairing and tailcone are all one, shaped and ready for final primer.

Not sure what you are asking. The rear fuse is fabric covered and pinking tape over the stringers. The fuse will be painted silver.

Jeff, I thought he was just asking if it will give the full scale appearance of fabric over the rear part of the fuse. Instead of looking smooth like the sheeted areas.

The answer to that is yessir. I hope to have it flying by min-May. YOu'll be glad to know the Polikarpov had a great flying season last summer

I did not realize that plane had fabric covering on the fuse. I know that plane in the early stages of WWII have control surfaces that were fabric covered.

The Vindicator was an aluminum forward fuse and empannage. From the rear gunner to the empannage was fabric. The wing center section was aluminum. The outer wing panels were aluminum skinned from the leading edge to the spar and then fabric from the spar to th trailing edge. It was a pre-WWII bomber (that period of transtion from biplanes/fabric to aluminum skin). I have always liked the pre and early WWII aircraft.

Here is my final chosen scheme:

Nice project, I like the Golden Age aircraft best. But everyone wants the newer A/C. My 1:4 scale Curtiss F11-C2 Goshawk as alum dural noses on the wings and H & V stab, and the forward section back to the aft end of the cockpit is alum skinned.

Final Answer

Nothing special here, just a rendition of a tail gunner. The gun is from www.iflytailies.com of course it still needs painted. Now don't tell anyone I mounted it upsaide down, but I wanted to take advantage of the holes in the gun body for mounting. Not many, if any, will notice.

Progressing on the Vindicator, the white tail has been painted. I also have the wing half painted. I am also working on the front office.

A Vindicator in any size is a nice project.

Here is a completed outer wing panel, it just needs an aileron. Unfortunately, the big 3w hinges I am using are back-ordered for at least a month now from Aircraft International...may be the driving factor on getting this thing done.
