Default How is your flight metal or shiny aluminum paint holding up?

Hey guys Im fiberglassing my first war bird a TF Gaint P51 I got from a good buddy who past away, it has served me very well in the last 2 years and has even helped me win a few NASA scale events.

Well after a run in with a tree, I figured it was time to make her right.

I have seen vids and pic of how great flight skin looks, but I also read some guys have issues with there nitro motors makeing a mess and makeing the panels come off.

I only mention this as Im useing a DLE55 with Kelo Scale sides exiting exsaust, I love this muff really changes the look and sound, but I have to run it a little richer than normal.

So I do get some black oil on the side and on the leading edge of the elevators.

I also hear that the fight skin can get dented easly, wich is something that worries me, I put my wings in a sleeping bag cover but as accedents do happen.

I have been reading about this new BVM Aluminum paint that is even better than the last stuf they had, but at $350 for 1/2 of a 80in war bird woo.. But that is really all I would need as I plain on doing it back in the Beautiful Doll skeem with invashion stripes.

SO my question is, those of you who have used flight skin, would you again? Has it held up? Anything you would do to it to help with my messy exsaust set up?

Any one eles find a really nice shiny aluminum paint that dont cost $1500 a pint?

Pic please

Are your talking about flite skin (which is .007"ish G10 sheet) that is used instead of balsa wood to sheet surfaces, or Flite-Metal which is a sticky back aluminum tape style covering that goes over just about anything.

If you just want a shinypaint, just get a silver colored automotive paint and spray it. Or there is the behr exterior household paint. It works fine for gasoline engines as long as you dont spill gas directly on itand leave it there
