Default Pica Mustang 1/5 scale

I just obtained a Pica Mustang that was started. The elevators, rudder as well at the vertical and horizontal stabilizers are done as is the top halve of the fuselage. Was wondering what retracts you Pica owners were putting in the Mustang. Looks like the Robart 145-5 retracts were used as well as the 145-6. Would the Robart 622 like in the Top Flite Mustang work. I also see used engines like the 3w 75's being sold on RCU often. It appears that the Pica planes build tail heavy so a little bigger engine couldn't hurt. Any tips would be appreciated.

Too bad the tail is done...it is overbuilt and tends to be tail heavy as a result.....

The struts on the Robart 622's might be a little to short. Check the Robart site for drawings and dimensios. You might be better off using the Robarts for the Ziroli 1/5 scale P51.

Cheers,

Just made a couple deals here on RCU. Got an engine, DA60 and found some Robart 145-6, Think I would have preferred the 145-5, but beggars cant be choosier s.

the pica's are nice planes. I have seen them fly off of a ST 3000. I think the Pica's are true 1/5th sclae and have a better scale look.If you can blend the cowl into the fuse......it would be a pretty plane. good luck with that and keep us posted

Got the engine and retracts this week. Put the retracts over the plans and they match up almost perfectly. There is another club member building a 1/5 Pica Spitfire. Even though mine is about half done, he will finish first, being retired and all. Figure I can pick his brain if I get into a jam.
