No problem Mike!
No mine ist the normal lengh. The 50cc head about 1.5cm shorter then the 67head. It fits under the cowl of mustang and spitfire.

I'm beginning to wonder if I bought the wrong motor? I didn't think the 100 came with 270 timing, so I chose the 135. The cylinder heads being that much smaller really would have made a big difference and I'm guessing it would way around or so less...

Can you return it for the other engine? If I were you I'd ask

The IL135 is a very good choice for p51. I will find out if you need the long version for a stressless installation.
Look at this: both mustangs with IL135.

By the way... All 2zyl have 270 degree now. The sound is so much better then 180 degree.

Mike:
do inside the fuselage a thin piece glass to close the small holes on the could side.
the carbs you isolate with a piece of foam. Why? Becaus the carbs are gettin hot after 3 minutes flight becaus of the heating zylinders. If you throttle down the fuel in the hot carb will blow out and the engine stops in worst case.

The foam parts i do for close all holes. All the cooling air should go throu the zylinderhead. Air that goes more then 3mm next to the engine will do no cooling.

The price is based on the daily exchange rate of the Euro and Dollar. I bought a IL100 long nose with 270 degree timing in late 2013. The price was $2699 plus $259 shipping. The IL135 long nose with 270 degree timing was only $110 more.

I bought my through Vogelsang Aeroscale. Ask for a quote and he'll get you the current price.

Hey Doc-
What caused the Moki deadstick in your '47 ? Always like to ask because it might save someone else's plane one day by picking up a tip or idea.

One main. Gear got stuck up. I bent a trunion, got a replacement, I think it was locking a tiny bit too tight in the up position. Couldn't duplicate on ground. So, not a dead stick, belly landed it, greased it in, then hit a little berm and it went back up into the air about 5'. Then landed again. Cowl was undamaged other than the aluminum straps getting bent. Broke clean about 4" behind firewall, all the way around. It's in primer, hopefully doing rivets in the next week or so.

Forgotten:

your installation looks good! The plastik ramp... Is it a 3D Printed part? Its possible that it is your spoiler for hot air exhaust. So if it is, you know how big cut out the cowl.

My foam-parts i use to close the space between engine an fuse or cowl. All air must go thru the zylinders, air byside the zylinder will not cool the engine. if you need more information tell me....

Default Kolm il200

Here is my CARF Mustang I buillt. I did the 200 cc triple. The motor is a work of art! I have flown the plane one time, and pretty pleased with the plane. I still have a few things to work out for next year, but will be real fun to get going.

Nice Mustang 1200psi! Very classic paint scheme and one of my first plastic model kits from Monogram I painted like that.

Beautiful 1200psi! Love the paint scheme. Are you planning on adding baffles?

Tom,

Here is that piece, it does look 3d printed. I saw on the pics of the galloping ghost that the flange went on the outside of the fuse. Not really crazy about doing that. To put it where the CAD drawings show, I it will cover the hole quite a bit. I'm not quite sure exactly how I'm supposed to use this piece without trimming the hell out of it. I am a rookie on this stuff, I'm not sure what I'm trying to accomplish with air flow. i.e., little lips or flanges will cause air to speed up or slow down and be drawn or sucked out????

Got the front end painted tonight. I need to put some carbon on the floor behind the firewall before I do the cut out. The cockpit and all the mounting trays inside are removable. The plane is pretty much ready for paint, then I can put everything back together

Yes, I baffled the motor but i used 8mm foam to do the baffling. I have seen the baffles you have in a email but wondered where to get them. Where did you get them? Your project is very nice good luck.

Hello again :-)

for Doc :
I marked you where to cut. the you can trimm the hole pice a bit--- thats no problem, and glue it inside where the hot-air-exhaust will be. the it looks like thle spoiler of th ghost which i showed you here. it´s all about the spoiler. Becaus of the nose-form of the mustang you really need it to get the effect of sucing :-)
hope you understand my hobby-english.....

Salte:
Now i finish the work at my BF109. Will be the plane for our formation-flight (visite our site an left a "like" if you want https://www.facebook.com/AustrianWW2Fighters ) ... and then P51 will start. hope end of dezember. of course i will post here a bit, no problem.
Plan is the IL150! Power more then enough and no problem with installation.

1200psi, the baffle kit came from Kolm. It required a lot of adjustment and fabrication of a few of the parts, but it was a great start. The biggie in the kit is the two firewalls, would have sucked not having them. They needed a ton of trimming as well, (which leads me to wonder if I have the right version of the motor long vs. short)?????

Doc ... Think you don't need the full lengh.
When it's painted you cant see it from 2m distance. When you have a kolm-sound onboard, nowbody will look on you spoiler .

Hey Doc,
Why don't you make it retractable with a servo so it closes up nice and neat when not in use.....
