Prekin,
For the former may I suggest a sandwich of thin ply (1mm) and thin Fliteskin (0.2mm)
I recently built a spoke rim for a 109, its very thin, light, strong and ready to paint

The rims are made from 0.8mm ply and 0.17mm fliteskin, both laser-cut for precision. The pic is my CMP 109F, I'm also finishing a ESM 109E with the same rims
You should try fliteskin, great material http://www.fliteskin.com

Otto Smik isnīt the only CZ pilot who sported nose art, but his Mk IX is one of the most famous. There are some other pilots as F/Lt. Stanislav Fejfar or F/Lt. Vaclav Jicha who had individual nose art on their Mk V. But the pictures were before canopy as Stork on Svetlikīs Mk IX. But these Storks are not personal pictures. This Stork is symbol of SQN no. 312.

Some guy made Eduardīs Spitfire scale 1:48 kit with marking DU-L. Exactly this one Iīm working on. Here are pictures of this plastic kit. Eduard produces one of the best plastic kits I know. Iīve already bought one this Spitfire because it is a good for some details. But it still in the box.
