That's good that you can do that with him.
The motor in my cub is electric. I have moved to electric because it is clean and all you do is change your LI-PO battery over.

How does it go Nick? Is that the ESM Spitfire MkIX?
John, I´m not going to bin them. At the first time I would like to modify them. The biggest problem of their size is in their depth. I can´t hide them under the cowl. But now I´m waiting for fibreglass cowl, so I must wait.

Nick, at the first time I wanted to buy ESM fuselage and build only the wing. But when I was thinking about it I reach the result that is easier to by all ESM kit and remake it or built this Spitfire on my own.
I remade ESM Dauntless and La-7 and found out, that the biggest problem was a scale cockpit and place for air tank. Other problem is the wing. I want to make wing from two halfs.
Here are some shots of my Dauntless and La-7 now La-5FN I saw that you did something similar with CMP Bf-109.

I've admired your craftsmanship on the SBD and La-7. I have done similar ARF make-overs on the CMP 109, the Kyosho Spit 90 and the ESM Bearcat (pics to follow). On the last 2 I rebuilt the wings and covered with Fliteskin.
I got the ESM 73" Spit wing second hand with a broken wing from a rough landing. I repaired it but didn't like at all its flying / stall performance. After some investigation I found excessive wing root incidence (2.5 degrees), little to no washout and a very strange airfoil (scale semi-symmetrical at root but thick symmetrical at the tip).
So I gave up on the stock ESM wing and decided to build a nice scale BT wing, cover with Fliteskin and match it to the fuse.

Kyo Spit, not scale geometry but very light so good platform for experimentation:
- Built proper wing fillet
- Stripped covering and glassed / fliteskin'd
- Sliding canopy and some cockpit features

Oh right, you mean the wing walk weathering.
I spread sea salt over the primed wing, then paint the camouflage colours, then scratch the salt crystals off and you get the random paint peel effect
